Default 2000 impreza RS, oil press indicator

Subject pretty much says it all. I tried searching the forum but kept getting tonnes of stuff not really related. What would be the best way to install an oil pressure indicator into a 2000 impreza RS? Are there kits out there or do you have to piece together pits? Thanks,

what do you mean, an after market oil pressure gauge (i.e. autometer, defi, etc..)

if thats the case, electrical or mechanical?

electrical you have the sending unit, easiest place to install it would probably be the factory oil pressure sensor hole, i believe it is right behind the alternator between the alt. and the power steering pump. get the correct fittings and a stainless braided hose to extend it out of there and mount the sending unit to something that wont vibrate very much, and get a t-fitting so you can keep your factory oil press light in there.

if you are replacing the factory unit its in the same place, behind the alt, and in between the alt. and ps pump.

Sorry, yes an aftermarket electric one. I'm used to having more than an idiot light for oil pressure and figure it wouldn't be that hard to install one in this car.

I did mine a few weeks and put the sensor behind the alternator. I had to remove the alternator to make the stock sensor/galley plug easier to take out.

I think most kits would include the sensor, you might have to retap the stock galley plug to thread the sensor in though.

Two brands I can think of that include the sensor are Greddy and Defi.

autometer does as well, the thing is you need the bsp, to bspt or something like that, basically it adapts the standard threads on the pressure sending unit to the metric ones we have on our cars.

here: http://www.wrxtra.com/ thats the website that sells it, and here is the unit itself: http://www.wrxtra.com/cat_3.html
