It can get preety pricey. You would be better off buying a manual instead. Plus a headache if doing it your self.

If you llike doing projects, an auto would be fine. You can drop a STi 6spd in later with a swap. It has 4.444 if it's a 2.5RS, it has 4.111 if it's a Impreza L/OBS.

this is a lot of work for just a 5spd......i wish to god that i would have bought a 5spd car from the start. JUST WAIT TILL ONE SHOWS UP. and if you do buy an automatic......youll be in luck because i will be doing a LARGE writeup on this swap. -pete |

i PURCHASED A 94 IMPREZA L FWD 1.8L NO POWER WINDOWS OR DOORS, i FOUND A 2, 2.2L ENGINE WILL RE BUILD ONE EVENTUALLY, BOTH FOR 150.00 AND I RECENTLY PURCHASED A THE REAR END FROM A 94 IMPREZA 2 DOOR AUTO FOR 110.00. I DONT HAVE THE GAS TANK OR THE DRIVER SIDE REAR STRUT. I HAVE A MANUAL TRANNY IN MY FWD THAT IM GOING TO THROW OUT. WHAT WOULD TELL ME THE REAR LSD RATIOS THAT i PULLED FOR MY SWAP AND THE MANUAL TRANNY i NEED TO PURCHASE TO MATE UP WITH THE LSD. SOME JUNK YARDS HAVE TOLD ME THAT FROM 91-95 THE MANUAL TRANNIES WOULD FIT, BUT THEY WANT TO SELL ONE FOR 600.00. DOE SUBARU HAVE A BETTER MANUAL TRANNY THAT WOULD FIT WITH SAME GEAR RATIO AS A 94 LSD FROM AND AUTO. I WILL JUST WAIT TILL I FIND SOMETHING CHEAP. ONE MORE ? WERE DO i FIND ALL THE RUBBER BUSHING REPLACEMENTS FOR THE REAR END AND WHAT SPECIAL TOOL ONE MAY NEED |
