Weird elec probs and now broken down.

I have a 2002 WRX with no mods. About a month ago, I had to have the alternator and battery replaced. (Quite pricey) Tonight, I was driving home and the ABS light came on. A couple of minutes later the speedo and tach quit working, although they would come back and quit almost immediately. The clock dimmed and the radio started flaking in and out. As I was almost at my house, the car began driving very slowly and sputtering. I pulled into a parking lot and totally died. Turned the key...nothing. If I let it sit for a few, the starter would turn, but not enough to restart.

Does this sound like the alternator is bad, or does anyone have any other ideas what it could be? I checked the alternator fuse and it was ok. Please help. Any and all answers would be appreciated. Of course all this started 3 months after the warrenty ran out.

sadly, it really sounds like the alternator...

Did you replace the alternator with a Subaru one or aftermarket? For some reason, in my experience, aftermarket alternators don't work so well. We always end up putting a Subaru one on. Problem is always solved.
