Question replacing 04 WRX foglamp bulbs?

I've searched all over this forum, a couple of others and google searches are coming up blank for me. The passenger side fog lamp went on me, and in the owners manual they suggest to take it to the dealer for replacement, since it is "difficult" to do. I'm looking for advice or a HOWTO or something to help me get to the bloody things myself - this "take it to a dealer" jazz just isn't acceptable, y'kno?

I want to replace the stock bulbs with something that throws a bit more light, and I imagine the dealer wouldn't install aftermarket parts like that without whining at me in some way about voiding warranty, blah blah. So, any help with doing this would be appreciated - I'd like to get this done with before the weather here in Western NY gets much colder. Thanks!

You'll have to remove the fogs through the bottom of the bumper.

See steps 11 and 12.

You can get to the bulbs from the wheel wells, if I remember correctly.

<-- changed foglight bulbs over a year ago and forgot how it was done.

I found it easiest to actually pull the fog light housings, swap bulbs, and reinstall, than try to do it on-vehicle. You need to go up through the underside of the bumper (peeling back the splash guard), and pull the two bolts. Then the lights come out through the front of the bumper (pop out the plastic around them first). You should be able to get enough slack in the wiring to get it loose from the front, if not, unhook the electrical connector from underneath and then pull out the housing

Where the electrical connector meets the housing, you rotate the back of the housing, and it comes off, revealing the retaining wire for the bulb, and the connection for the positive lead.

Takes a couple minutes to figure it out, but it's not that bad (unless your garage floor is filthy...)
