Default What size washers do I need for banjo bolts on brake caliper?

Over the weekend, my caliper began leaking where the brake line screws in with the banjo bolt.

What size washers do I need for this, b/c now that the sun is setting early, time is of the essence and I'd like to just swing by advance auto after work and pick em up.

Any tips on keeping this from happening in the future? I've had the brakes and lines on there for 2 years without issue.

I don't think that regular washers will do. I believe they are a soft aluminum that kind of "seal" with the banjo fitting. I think I would just go to Subaru with this one.

Yeah, I think it's more of a crush washer/bushing. I'd get them form subaru. IMHO.

Yeah, I think that they are maybe brass. IIRC, one side of the washer has a square edge and the other is a rounded edge.....

Anyone else?

UM, take an old one down to your local AUTOZONE and have them check in their nut and bolts section(the one behind the counter.)

Well, this is why the caliper was leaking. It must have just been threaded in there on imagination. IS THIS FIXABLE? CAN IT BE RETHREADED, ETC?

....don't think so unless that was one with the 8mm nut....then ya might be able to get the one with the 10mm nut and use that one.....dunno the actual thread size

Actually....maybe....theres some things called Threadserts...(Helicoil) for this app...
Chris..you will have to find a DECENT Bolt Store...not home depot...not Advance...

Maybe Napa...but doubtful...

You need to find a SPECIALTY Nut and BOLT STore...should be listed in the yellow pages......Asheville has one..called ASHEVILLE NUT AND BOLT...and have Thousands of fasteners...as well as the hi end helicoil kits...

Hope that helps..

Hi Scotty..

Chris -

I've used the Helicoil stuff a few times now (I/C holes for the BOV, swaybar mounts, and the bolt holes for my seat) and they've been rock-solid. They've been lifesavers for sure. Hope you get it fixed tomorrow dude

Keep us posted...

I believe that the thread pitch is something like 1.0mm versus the regular 1.25mm pitch. It's a fine thread pitch for sure.
