Default GE Nighthawk bulbs - any good?

Do these work as advertised? They're supposed to be 20-30% brighter than stock - but brighter isn't always better. Comments?

There's not too much info on these bulbs other than the Press Release info GE put out claiming its advantages. I dug up a pic on eBay and they seemed to look like an OEM halogen bulb with no blue-coating on them, so that's a good sign. If they aren't too expensive, I'd say try them - they can't be worse than the cheap Asian market bulbs with blue-coating on them. These may be a good alternative for the 9007 application for the '02 bugeye lights.

The GE Nighthawks were actually recommended to me by Daniel Stern himself (the lighting guru) so I wouldn't hesitate to use them if I needed new bulbs for my Impreza. At the moment I'm still on the Philips VisionPlus +50% bulbs I installed two years ago--excellent performance but harder to get vs. the GEs at CT.
