Default front lisence plate

IS there some sort of bracket for the front lisence plate on the 2000 legacy GT bumper. I need to put a plate up front but instead of holes to screw it into, there are only a couple of divots I assume are meant to be drilled out. How is a plate mounted on the front of these cars? The guy at the dealership said if I drill them out there are threaded inserts in there, but then the question goes to what size and type of screw is needed.

Hmmmm

My car is a '01 and does not have threaded holes behind the divots. The dealer drilled out the divots and used small machine screws to mount the plate.

I wish they left it off.

OK, well I'll have to take a look and come up with something suitable.

Default It's backordered Sir ....

well... depending on what your Dept. of Licensing laws are ... you could simply keep the front plate in the vehicle ...

that's what I've done after looking at our requirements in WA ... and Subaru does have a special bracket ... at least for my '97 ... but when I really tried to order the darned thing ... it was always backordered ... so ... if I ever do get stopped ... golly officer ... it's still on back order ...

my gt looks much much nicer without the front plate!

My '98 Legacy had a bracket that bolted on to the underside of the bumper. Check in the back with your spare tire, that's where my bracket was hiding (with screws and instructions). I guess the guy who had it before me didn't see it, he just drilled right into the plastic, it looked bad, but it seemed to hold.
