Top Speed Tuned STi!

At the Track So I challenged the big mouth to a 1/4 mile race.

I need some advice from y'all. I have a 04' STi and a guy I work with has a 88' LX Mustang with a 90' GT Eng. in it, spraying a 150 shot that runs 12.95. He runs his mouth ALOT, so I challenged him to a 1/4 mile race on the 28th, winner gets the other cars drivers door(for a work day & some pics). My best run so far is a 13.05 with a TBE (no Cats.), and a ram air intake( Unifilter, with MRT filter.) I am getting new tires this weekend and I am looking at the BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW-2 in the same stock size of 225-45-17. My question for y'all is how can I get a half sec. or a lilmore off my time. with out spending too much money??

So he is running a low 14 without the juice. If you had the bottle he would be sucking your dust brother. See if he would race without his bowi for pinks.
I'm betting he would cry.

Get some form of engine management, get it tuned, and gut out your car.

Like everyone else has said, remove everything possible. Make sure to ice down the IC, be very very low on gas, and make sure the gas is a nice high octance. After that get some EM; maybe just find someones AP to borrow for the day if nothing else.

Dude, you gotta represent now. Spend some money on some good EM. I'd say get an Accessport and have it protuned with a 100 (or more) octane map. And last but certainly not least, go practice launching.

Dry ice on intercooler.

Add more air to your tires.

1/2 a tank of 104.

Take everything out of your car.

Pray.

forget not spending too much money...i say get a UTEC and a new turbo...a GREEN If I'm not mistaken, that should cost you a lot less than a new door would.

I dont know about the race gas. maybe if you get tuned on it or run it for a couple days before the race, but I've read many threads about people putting in race gas right when they get to the track and running slower because the ECU is confused for a while.

Show up to the race way early, the night before take off all your doors, hood and trunk and take out all the seats, glove box, heater and a/c fan, then put a car cover on your car.
When the other guy gets there set a time to race, write it down in contract form that you will race @ 2pm (say u are writing this with him at 1:30) and the winnar gets the other persons drivers side door that is CURRENTLY ON the car.
Then when the contract is done and signed at 1:55 unveil your car with no door and go kick his ass.

50 shot should do the trick.

Or install a pinto door before u go race him.

$500-$900 utec + $900-$1200 green + $200-$400 tune is less than a door? You can get a used door for $400ish. Are you guys really going to make the other one pay up? Assuming you actually mean "get his door".

Plus, a crappy old Mustang door isn't worth as much as your door. Not a fair bet.

Get a boostcontroller? This way you can maybe spice up your boost for the run... Practice launching, ice the intercooler, get rid of everything, passenger seat, back seat, spare tire and all that crap. Put some more air in your tires, run on race gas for a week so your ECU can adjust to it and you'll run some better times.. Its all in the power to weight ratio... and practice practice practice.. So while your letting the ECU get used to the race fuel, stop at every red light you see.. and let it rip

Hey if you gut your car, completely gut the drivers door. Window, panels, inner and outer door handles, trim wheatherstrip. I mean everything. I would tie wrap it shut. That way if he wins he won't get much and you could sell most of the stuff and get a new(used) door.
