Default Fog light HID?

I found a site, here http://www.hidplace.com/subaruinstall.html , and i was thinking about getting one cause i love HID's. But if i get some i want to have them for my fog lights too, if thats even possible. If it isnt ill just go with some yellow bulbs down there or somehting, just wondering tho cause i havent seen any hid's for fog lights.

You can do it, but HIDs for fogs are silly - they produce the wrong color light for fog use.

Not only do they produce the wrong color light for fog use, but they produce *too much light* for fog use.

I would go with yellow bulbs for fog usage. They're better during inclement weather.

Thanks,

HID fogs = very, very bad from what I know. You also need to list what type of car you have for the best advice, otherwise we are all guessing. I'll move this into the land of light dorks for the best advice.

Well, doesn't the Lexus IS300 have HID foglamps? Just a lower light temp for the yellow color?

However, if you don't have HIDs for your headlamps, even a proper yellow HID foglamp setup would not be good since it would create an unbalanced amount of foreground light diminishing your ability to properly see in the dark.

IIRC, the Lexus IS300 does not have HIDs in its fogs. The fog setup are projectors with yellow lenses.

I've run both the 5000ēK (white) and a 3000ēK (yellow) Xenon bulbs in the 2004 WRX foglights.

IMHO, the 5000ēK are hands down the best bulb to use... especially in the fog. The 3000ēK bulb looked drowned out by the 4300ēK main headlights (projector retrofits).

Also, the forward light really fills up the hole between the front of the car and where the main headlights land. The biggest difference I noticed was the ease of seeing the lane markers in the rain. Glare from the fog lights (all light sources produce glare) are focused much further back than the main head lights on wet roads. Installing the Xenon bulbs were worth it for this alone (wet roads).
