Default need help with an 06 impreza

ive recently bought my car and i love the car but the sound system sucks, so i decided im going to get some speakers and a new stereo, nothing crazy you know maybe like at most 200 on speakers and then i got to get the stereo and i thought i would get a Sony CDX-M8805X i think its pretty good but if anybody has any other opinions on it, also does that stereo play both cds and mp3s because they only show pics of the display and no buttons or anything the measurements for the speakers are front 6 inch and back 4.8 inchs the measurements arent exact because i just did this and it is somehwhat dark out and the light in my car isnt that strong.

Here is some info on that head unit: http://www.electronicscity.com/produ...f20deda63546f5

Looks to play MP3's and is XM Ready

For that much money you may want to look into an Alpine, Clarion, Pioneer. I have never really been impressed with Sony's car audio lineup.

As far as speakers, here is a guide for the 05's WRX. Not sure if the specs are the exact same as the 06 but i'm pretty sure they are. Maybe someone can confirm this.

Scroll to the bottom for speakers fitment. It will give you a list of speakers that are known to fit with the correct adapter to use also:

Sony's car audio product line sucks. The quality is cheap, the old days of the Sony ME are over. For the $200+ you can pick up a mid level Alpine or Eclipse. For speakers lots of people on this board seem to like CDT although I've never heard them. I think you could also get some Diamond components for around that price.

There are a lot of good components in that range. CDT, FOCAL, MB QUART, INFINITY. But that's just a personal taste. Go listen to some! What sounds good to us may sound like crap to you.

Ebay has tons of focal and MB Quart in your price range. You can pick up the CDT Classics or possibly the EF Series if you come across a good deal. MB Quart can be had all day long for under $200 on ebay, as well as Focal.

Again, check that link I posted in my first reply for IA Performance. That will give you an idea of what you can fit.

I wouldn't concentrate too much with the rear speakers. They are in a HORRIBLE location and very hard to hear front the front of the cabin. So with that being said, either keep the stockers, get some real cheap coaxials, or just disconnect them all together.
