Default SOLO II Awards Banquet - Oct 22nd, 2pm

Anyone going? I probably will, not because I'm getting an award or anything, but to chat with folks. I'd like to know more about the upcoming rally-x season, and the future of this program.

This is what I got emailed:

Here is a quick briefing of upcoming events the Arctic Alaska Region has planned for the next six weeks--

There will be a SOLO II Awards Banquet at Fiori D'Italia at 2502 McRae Road on Saturday, October 22nd, starting at 2 PM. Cost is $20.00 per person. See the SCCA website at alaskascca.com for more information.*

The Arctic Alaska Region Annual meeting will be held in December (tentatively set for 12/1/05). Elections will be held at the Annual Meeting including positions for Regional Executive, Assistant Regional Executive, and two Trustees. There is a good list of nominees to be voted on. The Region will be sending out the ballot submitted by the Nominating Committee in the next week and seek additional candidates until November 10th, at which time the final ballots will be mailed out. Be sure to vote and attend the Annual Meeting. Reports will also be given by the Solo Steward, the Stewards of Rally, Membership, Assets Report of the Region, and Treasurer's Report.

For those of you interested in RallyCross, the Administration Board is looking for a volunteer to head up the program as the Stewards of Rally ends their program in February of 2006. So if you like Rally Cross and want to see the program continue please step forward to help this program move forward.

The SOLO II Steward is looking for volunteers to help put on next years program. We are in need of a Solo Steward trainee, Solo Safety Steward Lead, Registrar and Event Chairs for the program. If you like to SOLO and you want to see the program continue please consider volunteering to help the program.

More details were not available at the time I posted this.

Not sure what's going on at the Alaska SCCA, kinda why I want to go and see. Figured I'd post up to make sure other SCCA members on Nasioc found out about this shindig.

I fear for the future of rallycross, so I see myself becoming a bit more involved.

As far as who's running the show, that's probably to be decided. The "king and queen" have been quiet lately, and I'd guess they're stepping down. It's a lot of volunteer work, new folks have to fill in the gaps.

I can report back on Saturday, if anyone's interested.

Would sure like an update. Not sure if I'll be intown or not.

Definitely hear about the volunteers. As always they need more, problem is keeping them for some reason. However I agree that new blood needs to be injected into "the gaurd" of the SCCA.

Everytime I see them, they look frustrated.

Yep. If I attended more events, I'd be more tempted to involve myself as a volunteer, but it'd be wierd if "that guy that only went to 2 autocrosses this year" was a coordinating type person. That, and I'm gonna miss out on all of next summer, then moving out of Alaska next fall. BUT, if I can help preserve (or even resurrect) the winter rallycross season, I'd be down. But I don't even see any future rally-x events on their website at all, so maybe it's too late.

I think I remember seeing on the State fair website, a rally-x planned for November. Not that that means anything, really.

Auto-x has enough regulars to stay alive, rally-x needs help. As far as how much help, hopefully I'll know more on Saturday. Good to hear your interest, Sparky.

Yeah, I thought 20 bucks was kinda steep. I probably can't eat 20 bucks worth, but I'll try.

I'm registered. We'll see how it goes.

Well, there was food, and the awards presentation. Other than that, there wasn't much discussed as a group.

Rally-x season is still a go. As far as event dates, I don't have any. Well, the Rondy event is on - other than that, everything's tentative. The current program will continue as is until after the Rondy event, then it'll probably get passed to someone else to run. So, this means those of us who are rally-x nuts, we have to step up if we want to keep the good times rolling, so to speak.
