Scratching/Scraping noise in Cabin. Engine Noise? Help!

Ive searched and cannot find any help on this issue.

I have a 2003 WRX Sedan.

Recently my car started making this metalic scraping/scratching sound.

What happens is when the engine is running between 3.5k and 6k rpms I hear this sound in the cabin coming from what sounds like the dash/engine bay area. It definitely sounds like an engine thing but I can't really hear it outside of the car. Its in the cabin where I hear it the most.

If I hold the RPMs between those levels I get the sound. Below or above those levels it isn't there. Also, if I go WOT I don't hear it. It's only when I hold it in those RPMs or when I engine brake within those RPMs.

It happens all the time regardless if I am in gear or not or moving or not. Clutch in or not, still get the sound.

Everything is running well but this doesn't sound good so until I go to the dealer I was wondering if anyone had a clue what this could be. Thanks

did u put a new exhaust in?

Mods??? If its stock take it to subaru, if you're still under 60K.

I have had this setup for about 6 months or so and this problem is pretty recent

I was messin around just now with my car and when I rev the engine from the engine bay I can't hear the sound. its really only when im in the car with the windows up. I can't tell if the sound is from the engine or what.

it sounds like its coming from the dash. I really can't pinpoint anything in the engine bay
