Default Live wire? I hear crackling around utec with ignition on??

When the ignition is on (not when just the key is turned) I hear crackling from around the utec like there is a live wire. It wouldn’t make any sense though that it doesn’t make the sound when the car is on by turning the key. This only started happening after I upgraded the utec software to 5.0 (following the utec instructions) and loaded 1-3 parameters w/ the stage2 base map. I recently just installed gutted uppipe/full tbe, but i didn't have this sound with stage1 map + 4.2c version before i upgraded to 5.0. Could it be something else?

Thanks in advance!
Bill

I have concluded that its not coming from the utec, but somewhere in the footwell/behind radio area. Ill move to electrical.

Sounds like a loose ground that keeps making and "un"making contact. Check it quick, could be potential fire hazard.

.....d0000d.....localize the area as close as possible.....set it up so that you can 'make it do that' easily.......sit in a totally dark car in a totally dark garage for an hour or so----take a bit of a nap .....and then 'make it do that' while looking for the spark.

You may be amazed at how easy it is to spot a small spark in total darkness
