Default Help!!! White smoke after resinstallation of stock injectors

Today I reinstalled stock injectors 550cc yellow side feeds back into my STI. I'm running Utec and I've had the Perrin modifieds in there for a few months. Since running the Perrins I've been getting a misfire cell (P301) on cylinder 3 but never had it until I put the Perrin modifieds in. Other than having to reset the cell with a scanner, the car had been running and idling great. Today I decided to reinstall the stock sized injectors back in because I've been worried about repeatedly getting the P301 cell.
So right after reinstalling brand new oem sti injectors, I reset the Utec by removing the 100amp fuse and waited a few minutes. I started the motor and white smoke started to billow out of the exhuast and a lighter amount near the coolant resevior. I've visually inspected the area, no disconnected hoses or plugs. What the hell could it be? After resetting the Utec a couple times more and restarting the motor, I'm still getting the white smoke and then a cell of P172 shows up. Anyone know what this code is? I've seen other threads about white smoke occuring after simple downpipe installs.

Please anyone with this experience please help.

P0172 is system too rich bank 1. could you have installed an injector without or maybe a broken o-ring causing is to spray fuel without stopping. ive never had this problem but i hope that helps.

I took a break then I decided to put the Perrin modifieds back in. I did not see any broken o rings on the stock injectors upon removal. After reinstalling them I rescaled the injectors to 840cc on my Utec's Open loop fueling section. Open loop fueling was set to 1, which enables open loop fueling. Then I disconnected the battery and waited a few minutes. I turned the motor on noticed it stopped idling as rough as when I had the 550cc injectors in. Before, the motor at idle had heavy shaking, a sided to side movement alot more than normal and would want to die after blipping the throttle .

I took the car for a test drive around the block and had clouds of the white smoke out of the exhaust, but throttle response was alot better. I went back home and left the car running in my driveway for 5 minutes. There was less smoke out of the exhaust and still some coming out near the area of the coolant resevior and turbo. I then took another test drive around the block. There was definitely less smoke. I decided to take a cruise on the freeway. On the on-ramp I went WOT to 65mph and drove for approximately 15 miles, got off an exit and proceeded to drive back home. I had Utec on olf Stage II and throttle response was back to normal, white smoke disappeared.

I had sold my stocks to a nasioc member and purchased a brand new set from another nasioc member. There may be some type of recalibration procedure that needed to be done to the new injectors or maybe once the injector scaling is changed on the Utec it cannot be reverted to original to 550cc scaling? Or I may not have reset the Utec properly, although I had my map switch set to 0, which is the default setting for stock STi map. I don't exactly know why it did this , but I'm relieved it's performing back to normal.

Any feed back of what could have happened is welcome.

You could be seeing a variance of flow rates for stock injectors.

I have seen flow tests for STi EJ257 fuel injectors reflecting flow rates of 480, 520, 535, and 540cc. Perhaps the injectors you have are flowing differently than what you think they are. Did you try scaling the injectors to a different (higher or lower) number than 550 on your UTEC?

If, for example, your stock injectors were 480's and the new injectors really are 550, you are now getting 15% more fuel than expected. We know the injector scaling numbers are not precise... the important thing is the difference between the stock and scaled numbers.
