Default new member - looking for some option...

Hello all, im a new member here, I live in Tempe, AZ, and im about to purchase a 2006 WRX. Some background info, i have owned a 96 Toyto Camry, 92 240sx SE, 94 Honda Accord EX, 84 Mitsubishi Starion. Always had a passion for cars in general, the 240 and Starion were probably my favorites as they were RWD Love drifting, rally, and autoX, as well as most motorsports.

For my new DDWRX I have some plans for upgrades in the future (TBE / EM / etc...), but for the time being i just want to throw on a new set of wheels. Looking for suggestions, you can base them on whatever, looks/performance/etc...

Pretty sure ill stay 17x9ish front 17x10ish on the rear, depending what will fit, not looking for crazy ricer offset wheels.

Considering the FNO1RC's Black w/ Polished Lip - As a base of what type of wheel im looking for.

(Car will be black, so most anything goes, i really like the black with black lip)

Just thought i would say whats up and throw this out there.

Thanks

+bennett+

if this is in the wrong place, please let me know where it needs to go from now on. thx.

Is there a suggested maximum size and offset that i would not want to exceed?

This is my first AWD drive car, (i have driven a few WRX's) and i figured that with the power and all wheel drive, it makes sense to put some serious rubber down on the road and go fairly large.

Default a little FYI

different width wheels wouldn't work too well on a subi.

I am pretty sure that the widest you can fit under even an STi without rolling is 8.5 inches.

The AWD system may not like different size wheels. At least one of the Cusco WRXs uses larger wheels in the front to help with the infamous impreza understeer. Something to keep in mind about Rich's car and the Cusco cars, these are much more akin to street-legal race cars and not regular cars with some mods. It is much easier for them in many respects to replace diffs (the cusco car likely does not even have any stock diffs).

Rich may see more wear on his center diff than normal, but for the sake of performance, its an acceptable trade. Just like going with a big turbo kit, lose some long-term reliabilty for the sake of much better performance. (If all a person cares about is long-term reliability, get a Honda) I know for a fact that Rich has had to replace parts that have broken due to the shear amount of power he is putting down.

Pressure, perhaps a reasonable solution would be to have a seperate set you use only on track days just to reduce the daily-driven wear factor.

First and foremost though, the absolute biggest hinderance to the WRX in any form is those freakin RE92 tires...they are trash...unless you live in an area that never sees paved roads.
