Exclamation Logitech Harmony 880 Remote for $179.

Here is your chance to get the best remote on the market, period, for $179 (normally $250). The only thing it cannot do is RF, as it is IR only. However, the new 890 that is coming out will do RF I believe.

http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/pr...CONTENTID=9933

And to buy it through Dell for $179:

http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/p...&page=external

Apply these coupons: S72?B6TTJG24SQ for 20% off, then $?89Q0$SJ4D?1S for an additional $20 off.

You're welcome.

Sweet!

I've been waiting for a price drop since before Avatarr's thread on this last year.

already ordered it back on Wednesday. Stupid thing hasn't shipped yet.

One of my coworkers has this, and he says it's unbelievably awesome. I have to regularly use three remotes just to watch TV, so this'll help tremendously.

I ordered mine on Wednesday too and just realized that I didn't make a thread about it yet. It shipped on Wednesday but it's been sitting at a sorting facility in Waco since then. ******** leave it in the sort facilities just so it will take the full 5 days to get here.

Best remote? Stick to grills aod.

Home Theater Master is where it's at.
http://www.remotecentral.com/mx700/index.html

I bought an MX-500 2 years ago and haven't had more than 1 remote on the coffee table since then. It's been the only universal I've ever owned which is actually capapble of replacing all of your OEM remotes.

Sorry but your MX-500 has been superseded by newer technology. I fully intend on only having 1 remote, being able to commercial skip with it, and have a color screen. The coolest part will be freaking out friends when I pick up the remote and it automatically comes on.

I understand you are bitter that you spent way more on your remote than this deal, but that's okay. You can now get the better remote for a good price through this deal.

The Harmony 680 seems to be a better unit with TV listings built into it. Plus it's the same price.

Having had the old 745 I can tell you that you will use the TV listings feature for 1 week, maybe 2 weeks tops. It gets pretty old having to plug your remote into the computer to download listings once a week. The feature is pretty useless if you have a guide on your system anyhow. The color screen (amongst other "upscale" features) is what makes this remote better than the 680.

Oh, and apparently the 880 is supposed to have TV listings features, but the engineers have to get it working.

aod, you're starting to act like dicmo.

Sure the MX500 doesn't look fancy, and it never did, but it has two more programable buttons on the LCD and it has 3 global macro buttons. Not to mention, that it's size & hard button design means you have no problem changing the volume or surround mode on your receiver in the dark while watching a movie.

Let's see you switch from DVD to Satelite and change to channel 581 on that Logitech without glancing down at the remote.

If you need pretty things though....

One feature of the 880 that people with DVD/CD changers will like, you can categorize all of your DVDs/CDs in the remote and the remote will switch to the one you pick. That is way more useful than the TV listings feature.

Meh. Being able to switch from watching a DVD to Satellite and to channel 581 without having to look at the remote in the dark was probably at #47 or #48 on my top 50 things I need my remote to do list.

I think I read about the real major difference with the new Harmony and the MXs remotes is that the Harmony's have a save state, or that it knows if the device was turned on , so it doesnt toggle it.

So there is a remote that will have RF and IR? damn, should have waited. I got a H659 recently. But, I wouldnt shell out the price for that new one anyways. Prob in the $250+.
I payed 90$ shipped.

Yeah, the save state feature not only remembers what devices are on/off, but what input they are currently set on. This isn't a big deal if all of your devices have discrete IR codes (IE: Power On, Power Off, Input Video 1, Input Video 2, Input Component 1, Input Component 2. Rather than: Power toggle, Input select) because then the remote can just tell the equipment: "You you and you turn on and go directly to these inputs, you you and you turn off." But if not all your equipment has discrete IR codes, then it is a godsend because then it can tell the equipment: "You you and you turn on, you were turned on, but you have no discrete code for power off so power toggle, you go to input 1, you go to input 1, and you input select 4 times."

The 890 will have RF control and they will even have a $90 RF to IR converter so you can turn all your IR stuff into RF control. They will also have a USB RF controller so you can control your computer from anywhere in the house. Neat ****. The only thing is, the 890 will retail for $450.
