Default Why is my clutch wierd?

Hey guys! i had a quick question. Me and my cousin both bought 05 Blue WRX with premium package, he bought his 6 months ago and i bought mine 1 month ago, my question is : i drove his car last night and he drove mine, to my surprise his clutch was alot stiffer and it felt alot better than mine, mine feels alittle spongy and his is really stiff and nice. im not sure whats up with them but if anyone know anything please help!

Your clutch may have some air in the hydraulic lines and need to be bled. How does the amount of free play compare between the two, does yours have more free play than his?
If you have reason to suspect that there is air in the system have your dealer check it and bleed it if necessary.

mine has alot of play, on his you barely have to push the clutch in and its all the way down, mine it seems like its about 4 times the length (pedal going down). im not sure if thats what you mean, hope that helps

Also his clutch like responds better and it makes shifting alot smoother and easier, his pedal pushes back on you foot when you let it out, mine is really soft

Your description does sound like it has air in it, go to your dealer and have them bleed it.

Also, the type of fluid you use makes a difference. DOT 5 is silicone based and is the best IMO.

It won't cause damage to the clutch, but it can increase wear in the transmission, particularly the synchros, due to the clutch not disengaging sufficiently when you shift.
To respond to the fluid comment, you don't want DOT-5 anywhere near your car. It will not mix with the conventional brake fluid that is already in the brake and clutch systems, and is also NOT compatible with ABS braking systems.
DOT 5.1, that's a different story. That you can use.
For the clutch plain ol' DOT 3 or 4 is just fine, and of course it should be changed regularly along with the brake fluid.
