Default No rear lights, but have brake lights...?!?

Hey guys, quick question here. As of this weekend, I noticed my rear lights are not turning on when my headlights are on. But, when I brake all 3 brake lights go on.

Any idea why this could be happening? Could the bulbs be out? Are they separate bulbs from the brake light bulbs?

I'm not driving it until I get this cleared up (I suppose I'll have to take it in, but on the off chance I can fix it otherwise, I'd like to do so)...

Thanks!

Did you check all your fuses? The brake and tail light should be same bulb with 2 filaments, it's possible both are burned out. Start with bulbs then check fuses.

I drive an '02 wagon and had the same problem. Turns out the culprit was a loose harness plug in the center rear of the cargo space under a piece of plastic trim. It finally worked itself loose completely and I got stopped by a local cop for my lights being out. The harness ran from the front and split left and right at the plug to provide power to the lights. Good luck.
