From all that I've seen the bar and plate will flow more air through the fins, but for some reason will not cool as fast as a tube and fin. If someone has a better example of the differences please chime in. There is a TMIC FAQ writeup that someone did and even they couldn't get enough info to say why one would be and better than the other so for the money I'm probably going to go with this.
Also the speed monkey chimney heat shield will not work with any TMIC that is larger than a stock wrx.
I have a pm into these guys asking for the pressure drop readings for this thing. If anyone else has seen these numbers post them up.
Also is this a new product from GP Moto? I've searched around and you guys seem to be the only people selling them. Just wondering if this is a product launch type sale or if it's a get rid of these damn things sale
i don't have any exact figures but the pressure drop should be next to nothing since it is a tmic and i know this is a new product for gp
as far as which is better (bar/plate or tube/fin) i think it is a matter of personal preference just like most products here--if you are constantly running wide open then the bar/plate because you want to flow more air but if you are constantly changing speeds or stop and go then tube and fin--obviously
for me personally i am just building up my car to the max on my stock turbo and internals--just trying to get to a true 300 horses to the wheels and that is good enough for me and since this is my daily driver i don't need to flow alot of air -- i just need to cool it down faster and more efficiently than the stock tmic--this is just one of many parts helping me along the way
and the other reason is i just couldn't pass up this price
$520 for a quality tmic that matches (if not exceeds) tmic at 2x's the cost
big bumperoni to rallysport and gpmoto
now if only rallysport could do a groupbuy on the new sti header from aps
