I am interested but am not very intercooler savy.

How would this compare to others on the market? Size, fit and finish, performance, etc...

Also, does it come with new gaskets for the BOV flange and the Y-pipe flanges?

Thanks for your time.

Probably a dumb question, how big a difference would it be to have the stock WRX scoop and splitter combo vs. the STi scoop and splitter combo with this? Thanks.

CGM_WRX- I would say this one is about the same as the APS Topmount in size performance ect. It will come with everything that you need to install it.

Hoppie - Well with the STI scoop and splitter you are forcing more air over the intercooler, so it will be better but as far as gains... im not sure?
Thanks
Rick

A TMIC is the way to go over a FMIC if you are not running a LARGE turbo like a GT35 ... less pressure drop, less lag ... and easier to install

The STI hood scoop will allow MORE air to get to the intercooler BUT if you dont have a good splitter, much air is wasted .... get a splitter with more than just one fin, two or three fins is ideal, you will get a more even flow over the IC. Overall, yes the STI scoop is better but you need to combine it with a good splitter to increase the efficency of the cooling air.

Bump for a great vendor!

I am also interested because I am looking for TMIC for VF34 set-up that I'm going to get in near future. Is there any dyno or hard numbers done on this intercooler? Any installed pictures - want to check out its fitment.
Pmed you.

We are having the group buy until these run out, will most likely last a few weeks.

Scooby - It *should* work with a aftermarket heatsheild, but I can not guarantee fitment.

Also let me try to find out some more information on this peice.
Thanks
Rick

From what I've read this is a tube and fin design not bar and plate. I've done a lot of searching and haven't found any real evidence that would make me choose one over the other. I know all subaru stock tmic including all jdm sti tmic's are tube and fin. From all that I've seen the bar and plate will flow more air through the fins, but for some reason will not cool as fast as a tube and fin. If someone has a better example of the differences please chime in. There is a TMIC FAQ writeup that someone did and even they couldn't get enough info to say why one would be and better than the other so for the money I'm probably going to go with this.

Also the speed monkey chimney heat shield will not work with any TMIC that is larger than a stock wrx.

I have a pm into these guys asking for the pressure drop readings for this thing. If anyone else has seen these numbers post them up.

Also is this a new product from GP Moto? I've searched around and you guys seem to be the only people selling them. Just wondering if this is a product launch type sale or if it's a get rid of these damn things sale

i don't have any exact figures but the pressure drop should be next to nothing since it is a tmic and i know this is a new product for gp

as far as which is better (bar/plate or tube/fin) i think it is a matter of personal preference just like most products here--if you are constantly running wide open then the bar/plate because you want to flow more air but if you are constantly changing speeds or stop and go then tube and fin--obviously

for me personally i am just building up my car to the max on my stock turbo and internals--just trying to get to a true 300 horses to the wheels and that is good enough for me and since this is my daily driver i don't need to flow alot of air -- i just need to cool it down faster and more efficiently than the stock tmic--this is just one of many parts helping me along the way

and the other reason is i just couldn't pass up this price
$520 for a quality tmic that matches (if not exceeds) tmic at 2x's the cost

big bumperoni to rallysport and gpmoto

now if only rallysport could do a groupbuy on the new sti header from aps

Do the brackets mount up correctly? will the BOV fit w/o any grinding? Is this intercooler 100% plug and play with fitment? thanks

yeah I see this intercooler in my very near future. I'm kind of tied up with another user about trying to buy a used APS TMIC, so if that falls through I'll be putting in my order. I also do a lot of stop and go city driving so I'm pretty sure this would be a great fit for me. I got a pm from Rallydirect they said GP is sending them a bunch of info that they will post up here.

Im still waiting on Gpmoto to send me some info on this TMIC. Although I can tell you that they recently hit 388whp with a rotated mount and this TMIC.
I will post up the info as soon as it.
Thanks for the patients guys.

look two post up. GPMoto got 388whp with I believe a gt3x or something similar. They have a couple of power packages. I saw a web site with the same setup when I was searching for info on this thing.

jmanrex: Did you get this thing yet? Just looking for some first hand customer feedback. Still not sure if I'm getting this or the used APS.
