Take the keys out of the ignition and wear your seatbelt.

Yes, The damn beeping when the seatbelt is unbuckled is pissing me off too. Just another damn babysitter factory mod like ironing the warning labels to the sun visor. Still looking for the oh so secret disable function.

hey i found out that all u need to do is turn the igntion on while not turning so far to start motor, and within 30 seconds u buckle and unbuckle about 20-25 times. Now on after that it just chimes like 5 time beeps right when u start the car then stops for the beeps while door is open i don't know yet.

reach up under the steering wheel and unplug the "integrated module" - it's a small black box. pry open the box and put a piece of electric tape over the piezo speaker. or rip out the speaker if you never want to hear it again. with the tape, it's much quieter and still functional, yet removable.

3 years ago I thought the first mod to my WRX was going to be hardwiring my V1 but before I finished doing the V1 the dinger was so annoying it became the first mod.

Your setup is different than the original poster.

In order to disable it "permanent'y" (until the battery is disconnected), do this all within 30 seconds:

Open and close the drivers side door. Turn the key to the on position. Buckle and unbuckle the seatbelt 20 times within 30 seconds. Remove the key and open the door. Then, start the car. The seatbelt chime will go off 5 times (every time it is started) and then no more while driving.

HINTS: Never fully take the seatbelt out of the buckle. Release it and put it right back in. Also, make sure you count when the seat belt is released, not when you put it in.

Oh, and the door chime and the seatbelt chime are two different things

Thanks rexygirl,

I followed your instructions and it worked great. Next mod DRL delete. Anyone know if Dash lights will still be lit at all times with DRL shut off?

i just did this yesterday, dash lights still work, its only one plug straight for the drls, i didnt notice anything not working, just take the screws off and take the glove box off and its a white plug, make sure you get the right one,

they say you could reach it without takin the box off but i had hella trouble so i took it off anyway, like 8 screws, pretty straight foward

Not quite, but when I'm detailing the inside of my car and would like to listen to tunes, it's a pain to have to listen to the ding-ding-ding-ding-ding-ding-ding-ding-ding-ding...

I was just being a smarty....Isn't there a button towards the front of the door on the frame that causes the light and the door chime? Couldn't you just prop something against it to keep it quiet?

I know you were

I don't know if there is a button to activate/deactivate the door chime and light. Haven't looked into it before. Hard to believe since I've had the car for close to four years now. Perhaps I've been that annoyed with it

un-bolt your seat tip it back and un-plug the connecter from the seatbelt female side.

take the door switch out of the b-pillar un-plug it and put it back in

UNPLUG THE ****...

Although you brought back an old thread, I will go ahead and try to help.
If the procedure was done correctly, after starting the car, you will hear the beeps, but, the beeps will stop after the first few and does not come back.

If the battery is disconnected, the procedure needs to be done again.

PS: The answer to the OP is found in post #5.

correct...the first initial beeps will still be there, but then it should stop and not occur again. You can't disable the first few beeps.

So no way to disable the open door chime? I like to be able to listen to tunes with the door open, and the dinging is driving me batty.

In my old buick, the 'button' was near the hinge (a pillar) so I'd jam a rag or whatever in there to kill it when detailing.

But busygettingthere already almost answered your question:

take the door switch out of the b-pillar un-plug it and put it back in

UNPLUG THE ****...

And actually, I'd short it instead of just unplugging it. I haven't done this but I assume it's a 'Normally Open' switch which here means it's only closed (connected) when your door is closed. Shorting the wires will make your car think your door is closed. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Not sure what busy's seatbelt comment is about - I think killing the belt chime but for that I'd just do the 'jam it in 20 times in 30 secs' method.

I'll keep my eye out for a new "So I disabled my door chime and locked my keys in the car " thread

razorblades192 - thank you for reviving an old thread and not further cluttering NASIOC with dupe threads. I'm a proponent of reviving old relevant threads!

This was my door chime delete thread. It's an 02 though so your mileage may vary. Instead of completely silencing the chime, I rerouted the 'key-in' signal to light up a red LED behind my driver's lock button. It's rather pink in the daylight, but in the evening the lock icon is real red, and it has saved me from a lock out a time or two.

The one downside to these ideas is that if the door is open while the alarm is activated, it will not go off, because the system reads the door as closed.

True, very true.
If the key is left in the ignition, and all doors are locked, even with remote in hand, it will not open the doors.
If someone goes with the chime delete mod it is best to carry the spare key all of the time.
