Default 03 Subaru WRX rev issue

Hey guys so the other day I did a launch which is rare for me to do (I don't usually drive my car like that) & my speedometer suddenly stopped working afterwords.. And that's not it, when I was driving back home my car would hit the rev limiter at like 3,500 or 4K rpm... What could be the deal? Also the check engine light turned on as well. Please and thank you everybody!

So my buddy and I checked and a code didn't pop up. We're going to try again with another program.. Also my center diff was acting up and I'm just going to do a tranny swap because it went out, but I don't see how that would effect the check engine light.

It's your transmission speed sensor. It's located on the top of the transmission right near the downpipe. Mine did the same thing when it broke off hahah, i just glued mine back on.

+1 for sensor, probably messed it up somehow when you launched. Also sounds like you might be due for motor mounts if this was the cause.
