Cool, first step is getting the grind down. Then play with the temp.

Sweet jesus. I'm grinding my first roast of the ecuador; I purposely did it on the light side of medium. The aroma of the grounds is pure madagascar vanilla and 56% chocolate. When I pour water and break the 'crust' of grounds on top, it smells like sugar cookies. I asked both my daughters to smell, and both nailed it: 'dad, it smells like cookies!'. Itneeds a few more days rest, as its 24 hrs out of the roaster, but this gunna be good.

A friend does security for an old client of mine. He knows the housekeeper of a huge film director. She needs coffee, so my buddy turned her on to me. The catch? They need 30lbs of my fresh roasted finest...to make their house smell good. They will not be drinking it. I'm roasting it now.

Please tell me that you are not using up all the Ecuador on that.

Otherwise, congrats on the big sale.

I almost said no, but my hope is they'll actually taste it, and get hooked. I bought a new Guatemala, still have some left to put on the site. No way was I going to blow the Ecuador on this, I have the last 60lbs (and there were only a couple hundred TOTAL in the crop).

Acey - reverse temp surf. Google it.

the infinite wisdom at work here is to buy the cheapest possible 'Rival' drip machines at walmart for $8.xx .....the one I just threw away brewed at 138*
the black and decker unit that I replaced it with brews at 189*
That makes about the 5th one of those garbage Rival units I have thrown away

Now I just gotta get them to buy something other than that vile yak urine folgers classic roast that they get by the pallette to send out with the work trailers

i'm not hopeful on that, though

Have a few pounds left in the freezer, but I can't miss out on the Ecuador so I ordered a pound to test. Hopefully there will be some left when I'm ready to put in a restocking order.

When I worked for Schlumberger for a year, I had to deal with the same thing. I ended up taking the work van to a somewhat nearby Target and getting a cheap french press and a tea-kettle. Also, the C.O.E. that Target sometime stocks is worlds better than folgers or hills bros.

NO :2buck: NO :coffeemug:

They are in the industry and used to paying a premium, FULLPRICE.

Then, when the housekeeper replaces the beans, try to get them back and sell them on eBay as 'used only once' to make "xxxxxxx" directors house smell nice.

Sometimes the wanton wastefullness(is that a word?) of my industry blows me away.

Yeah, they throw money around like its going out of style. Pretty crazy.

And yes, they did try to screw me on price. I gave a discount, and they pushed hard for more, telling me what they paid for other beans. I just lol'd, I mean I had half a mind not to do the sale at all, on principle...why the hell would I try to meet some pricepoint they paid for junk beans. If anyone can afford to pay, it's them. The girl who picked it up last night said 'oh, smells great! If they like it, I'll order more for their other houses!! Yay! I don't know whether to , , or .

I worked for a client that had $90 bottles of perfume in every bathroom as air freshener, on top of the toilet. Same thing: oh hai, can I have your most expensive perfume at half price, so I can spray it in the bathroom?

yeah...well....a french press would really be a hassle....these B&D drip machines are really quite good for the $15.xx price......and I usually have hard enough time finding just a walmart, let alone a supertarget

I'm in McMullen Co....been working here, 2 jobs now since 03APR......it is 1113sq miles and has a permanent population of just 851 people

think about this for a minute......this county is bigger than the state of Rhode Island and has less than 900 permanent residents.

yeah....the 90 mile round trip drive to the closest walmart isnt something ya want to do more than necessary
