Drinking my first roast of the new La Minita. Holy crap, it's good. It's initially full, FULL bodied, round and fat, with a smooth butteriness, and thick pure coffee flavor, and even at a slightly darker roast than I tend to do, a beautiful acidity shines through and lingers. There is absolutely zero defect in this coffee, it's really clean, no astringency, no bitterness, nothing.

Wow.
THIS is why i unsubscribed from this thread. you're a bad bad man, nate.

1-3 days. When did you get your confirmation email? Sat, no? If so, you should get it tomorrow.

My

God!!!!

That's some good isht. Just got done pulling some shots of the Costa Rica and all I can say is wow. Drank the first one straight and made a dry cap with the other one. My wife wanted hers all mucked up with milk and stuff, so it's no as good. I'm anxiously waiting for tomorrow when I can bust out the Yemen and then the Ethiopian. I need to sleep or else I would be making all three tonight. Two shots = no sleep for the Canary. 'Twas worth it though.
Sorry you lost your job, the bodies were cute, but damn you have mad skills roasting coffee beans.
I <3 Poison's beans. (I need to make that into a shirt!)

Yes, La Minita is that ****ing good, huh? I haven't pulled shots with it yet, though. Yemen is sick as espresso, too.

draco, no problem, thank YOU!

The Sumatra is delicious! I made my first batch a lil too strong though haha. I'll start the morning with the dreaded folgers to do a comparo haha.

Any suggestions for a low-cost not-too-loud compact grinder just for grinding enough beans for a cup or 2 at a time?

I just went and bought the $20 Coffe Mate one they sell at Walmart. It grinds good enough for me, and isn't ridiculously loud I don't think. I mean it's a grinder afterall.

And Poison I just did the "test" and lived. Your Sumatra is sooooo much better, words can't even describe! The Folgers tastes like ground dark soil. Your Sumatra has a nice, almost chocolaty tone, very enjoyable.

i know that blade grinders are highly frowned upon, but until i get a jerb i am making do with my cuisin art minimate...

Amazon.com: Cuisinart MM-2M Mini Mate Chopper / Grinder: Kitchen & DiningAmazon.com: Cuisinart MM-2M Mini Mate Chopper / Grinder: Kitchen & Dining

course i also bot it 3 years ago for under $10..

works well for my french press and i rather go through this method than have someone grind my coffee for me.

Mike, I highly recommend buying a burr grinder. Search back a bit, you'll see I recommend the $65 refurb maestro. It's well worth the money, given the increase in flavor in the cup, the quietness, etc. It really does help brew a better cup. That being said, if you just can't swing the $65, a blade grinder is far preferable to pre-grinding. They all grind the same, so just buy the one that fits your budget. They're all loud as sin, afaik.

As long as coffee is used within 2-3 weeks of roasting, the bag it comes in is just fine for storage. A sealed canister isn't going to help things much, but it won't hurt either, for sure. If you must keep it over 2-3 weeks, keep out what you need for 2 weeks, and freeze the rest in ziplock freezer bags. Once you take it out, do not refreeze.

Yemen is great as drip, espresso, FP, whatever. Chocolate, tobacco, leather, and berries!
