Default changing oil types

so i did a search, and it said that just let it drain and maybe if i want do the engine oil cleaning thing. my question is what place can i go to have mobile 1 put in? the only place that is relatively quick is valvoline...do they have good oil?

and what do i need to have them do when switching from penzoil to a synthetic? just change it out?

You originally had this posted elsewhere and I had to move it. Now that its in the right forum, read the sticky about oil.

Where are you? hard to recommend a location without that info!

No need to flush the engine, etc. - esp. if the car is reasonably low mileage (plus it isn't a great idea in high mileage cars either) - just drain the old oil, then fill 'er up with Mobil 1. Mobil 1 is compatible with conventional oils, so there should be no problems - just change the oil like any other time.

so the moral of the story is that valvoline isnt that bad.

is it better to drive 25 miles to have mobile 1 synthetic put in or should i drive 5 and have valvoline put in? is the difference worth it?

edit: i did some checking and i can have an oil place just put it in for me, but what about the redline motor oils? should i use those or the mobile 1?

Anyone have information or thoughts on mixing viscosities? I know the 5w-30 is controversial, so why not put in two quarts of 5W-30 and two of 10W-30? Does that translate into another viscosity that I'm missing?

that would be 5.5W-30 mixing viscosities is fine. Get the valvoline if that's what's near you. different types of synthetic oil tend to disappear in our cars, so i would watch your oil level like a hawk until you can track it's usage regularly.

Any good quality oil is good, whether it is Valvoline, Mobil1, Redline, etc.

If you use non-synthetic (dino), plan on shorter oil change intervals than if you went with a true synthetic (ie; not some synthetic blend).

Dino oil change = ~3000 miles

Synthetic oil change = ~6000 miles
There are some synthetics calling for longer intervals between changes.

Dino is less expensive than Mobil1
Mobil1 is less expensive than Redline

Mixing your oil viscosities will probably yield you nothing. Just pick 1 viscosity of the brand you like and use that. Opinions of which exact viscosity/brand vary, sometimes greatly.
