Cobb Stage 2 vs. U-R Stage 3
I'm looking to upgrade to one of these power packages:
Cobb Tuning Stage 2 vs. Ultimate-Racing Stage 3 Both of these packages are about $1600 + labor, which is within my budget. My question is, will both of these packages compromise the Subaru reliability? Also, does the Ultimate Racing package seem too good to be true? What are the pros and cons with each one? Please help me before I make the best choice or the worst choice.

UR STG3(+TBE) > COBB STG2....
just about any mod will affect reliability...proper tuning will minimize the negative effects. you need turboback exhaust(or at least an uppipe(UP) & downpipe(DP), ~$500) w/ the UR STG3, the Cobb STG2 includes tbe but not an uppipe... w/ TBE the UR kit should net 40-60whp more than the Cobb kit... IMHO, the Cobb exhaust is way overpriced.... for ease of modding & wallet-burn just get you a DP, UP, & Catback, (~$700 depending on brand) & a Cobb Accessport w/ a STG2 map(~$600)... |

with the UR stg3 youd need to buy a TBE, a ecutek license (the one that comes is just a remapping of your current license) and an uppipe.
id say go either UR stg2 or cobb. personally id go cobb, but i would buy a different turboback and a used AP |

Man you don't need to spend $1600 on Cobb stage 2....
I got a used Helix DP with about 2000 miles on it for $175, the accessport for $650, a custom 3" catback made for $135 (installed) and a 3" inlet 4.5" outlet ebay muffler for $60 shipped. That's a tad over $1000 smacks. |

thanks for the help. I was leaning towards the cobb stage 2 anyways or just the accessport and TBE.

No probelm. I've been running stage2 for a while and have raced other cars with different exhausts with the same setup... No matter what... they are dead even speed wise.
Even a STi with open downpipe and no cat back (freak'n loud) was dead even with mine. |
