Default 2.0L Turbo OEM Oil Filter Help

My local dealer is insistent that the proper oil filter for my MY04 WRX is 15208AA060. The parts guy runs my VIN on his computer and that is the P/N that comes up.

I am about to get a 30K service and am worried that they will put the AA060 on instead of the 90.

Will the AA060 damage the motor at all?

the AA060 was what was specified for the WRX early on, so you are probably fine. Subaru switched to the AA080 and then AA100 (both were smaller diameter than the 060) - now there is another one which replaces the AA100 (the AA060 is made by purolator, the AA080/AA100 were made by a japanese company, and the new one is made by purolator again)

easy enough to check - the AA060 is white, the AA080/AA100 are black and say "Engine" on the end. the new one is white and a little taller than the AA080/AA100 - there should be some threads around which show all of this.

Yeah its no big deal if they put on the 060, I am a Subie tech. and a lot of the earlier WRXs came with the 060 from the factory. I wouldn't worry about it, it won't hurt anything, a lot of Subie dealers do put on the 060 some don't. Its no big deal.
