Have any of you guys with 2.5s been able to simply swap the crossmember in your car and install WRX intercooler, headers, up-pipe, down pipe, intake and Y pipe? Or is there enough of a measurement difference between the intake manifolds to cause it not to fit?
Brad

Yes, it should all fit but you may need to use a spacer on the uppipe to get it to clear the head. The intercooler is usually a tight squeeze.

Some modification is required for the intercooler.
I run a wrx tmic with a 98 intake and I had to shave my throttle body the the outlet of the intercooler but it fits and works perfect. You might have some coolant lines in the way depending on your turbo set-up. |

Ohh, and I don't know if you've got cruise control..But your either going to lose cruise control or find a place to relocate the cruise control box...
I might just remove my cruise control... |

So trim the TB down a little and the intercooler will fit without shoe-horning?
I was hoping to use an aftermarket cooler. Hopefully I can find one that isn't any larger between the TB and Firewall but has some extra thickness and width. So Cruise Control will need to be relocated?! Or tossed!! Thats an item I will need to do to eyeballing as to where else it will fit. I definitely want to keep that. So as long as the X-Member is a WRX or Turbo Legacy I shouldn't have any trouble with WRX headers/up-pipe/Down Pipe but may need to add a little extension to fit the turbo in the right place? Brad |
