I just received a mail from the dealer about the 15,000 check up ofr my 05 sti...is it really worth the money? they are asking for $300....what do they actually do? also my brakes are squeeking a lot....is it covered under waranty? my car has little over 15000 miles. thanks

Don't do it. It's a waste of money. I believe the 15k just calls for oil/oil filter/air filter change that you can easily do yourself. Might need to do a tire balance and rotation too, but that's rather inexpensive to do.

Everything is under warranty. Might want to get that checked although the Brembos are notorious for being loud and squeaky.

DON'T DO THE 30k AT THE DEALERSHIP. They will seriously rip you a new one. It took me one afternoon and about 150 bucks in parts to do it all myself.

I know this is about the 15k, but just looking ahead.

The brakes will be covered in the warrany if there is a problem. They should not charge you anything if you take it there as a complaint under warranty. I have NEVER taken my car to the dealer to do regular service interval work. But, having said that, it has to be done. If you don't do it, take the car in and pay. I do all mine and have logged it on MySubaru . It shows up in the same file that the dealer used to track the work they did do. Warranty work. All of it. Not bragging , I just don't like to pay for something I can do myself. Plus , I enjoy it.

Check your manual but it should be just oil, oil filter, rotate tires. Tire balance should not be needed unless there is a problem. Air filter should be checked but only replaced if dirty. Yes, the brake squeek is covered but the dealer may just tell you it's "normal." (possibly true depending on how bad it is)
