Default Mounting Cobb AP unit?

Are the wires long enough on the AP to mount the unit where I can see it, or does it just hang on the the floor. I'm interested in being able to see my boost. I won't be getting one four a few more months, but htis helps me dream about it and be happy for now.

The cable it comes with is about 5 ft. long. However, the font is small enough to make using it for live boost readings while driving a bit dangerous.

It's also kind of a PITA to drive around with the big plug sticking out of the OBD harness. If you want to do a quick ghetto-rig, you could get some velcro tape and put a strip of it on the popout cupholder and some on the back of the AP. The cord will definitely be long enough for that.

I am actually thinking about relocating the OBD harness to a different location -- possibly something like where the ashtray is.

Yes that cord sucks the big one. It would be so much better if the cord came out the side of the plug-in so it wouldn't hang down.

Ever consider getting a boost gauge instead of using the AP? I know you already have the AP but the small digital readout is a little hard to read while driving and I'd say it's somewhat unsafe. A boost gauge will always be there, it won't look like crap hanging from your cupholder, and it will stand up to the heat from the sun if you don't put it in the glove box.

I put the ap in the upper cup holder and route the wire down through the bottom of the cup holder.Run the wire behind the steering wheel trim in the gap ,in front of the instrument cluster. Then to the orb port.Close the cup holder tight and go .Of course this is temporary but works to check max boost.

I'd like to see COBB make a dongle based software version of the AP for the PC. Then I could use my in-car computer to do these things. I could use a single soft-switch on the touchscreen to trigger the transfer from the 93 octane pro-tune map to the alky map and switch on the SMC injection at the same time (or go back). I could also use the same OBD connection to run the DL1 software and log stuff to the PC. The cable could be hacked to make it more driver-friendly when installed.

I just put some masking tape on the back of the AP and put it to the left of the cupholder, under the air vent. Holds up fine when I want to check boost accurately. Only thing, the obd2 connecter is a bit annoying.

What about disconnecting the diag port from the plastic under-dash and having it lose inside, then you could run the wire behind the radio and have the console stuck there somewhere

It's very distracting to drive with the cable sticking out of the diag port...

Get a boost gauge instead.

Here's my solution.

The last pics shows that I unclipped the OBD2 from the panel trim, connected the AP and secured it under the dash.
