Default Another AP question.

Now that i have an accessport on the way for my car, I have read thru the manual and searched online, but i am still confused on the identifier thing.

I fully understand that I have to choose the identifier from the drop-down menu in the map manager software.

What i am confused about is the procedure. From what I read, it seems like i HAVE to do a basemap flash once, then take the AP to my computer to be able to change the identifier, then i have to go back to the car and do a full basemap flash once again to be sure that my ecu has the correct identifier written to it? Why cant i just connec tthe accessport to the pc first before i flash for the first time and save myself all the trouble of going back and forth and wasting 10-15 minutes and an unnecessary flash to my ecu?

Also, I am trying to figure out if i will be able to put all the 1.30 basemaps and realtime maps on the accessport before i go to do the initial flash so that i wont have to go back and forth either. This also seems to be only able to do AFTER an initial flash to the ECU.

If i am once again mistaken or at least on the right path but jsut confused, could someone in the know please help me out with the answers to my questions?

Thanks.

There is a trick which lets you connect to the computer before you marry. But I wont post it on the boards for fear of abuse.

Call Cobbtuning and they will walk you through the procedure.

Cheers

Thats cool and all how to get it to connect to the map manager, but what about what i was asking? Once its connected, can i set the ECU Identifier without the accessport being married to my ECU? Im assuming that if I can, that obviously it will let me load the new 1.30 maps to teh accessport since from what i understand it will wipe all maps from the accessport when it sets the ECU identifier anyways? I just dont want to be stuck with a unit that i cant load any maps onto since its not married to my ECU...
