Default 02 rsx into 06 wrx transformation

sorry, just kidding guys. just wanted your attention.

Q: What parts (engine) would I need to upgrade for a Cobb Ap?

Q2: Would you recommend the Perrin Big MAF Intake?
What intake would you prefer?

IMO: Subaru has the ****tiest stock sound system.
I think it's time to merge with Bose just like all the other car companies.

You don't have to upgrade anything in order to use the Cobb AP. Stage 1, is just the Cobb AP itself. Stage 2, is Cobb AP + TBE.

I'm keeping my intake stock. There's going to be wildly varied opinions on whether to keep it stock or to upgrade.

I do agree that the Subaru OEM stereo is pretty nasty. In regards to Bose, IMO Bose is complete garbage for both car and home audio. Their products sell well because they are great at marketing their products, nothing more. In audiophile circles, Bose is a complete joke. For stock car audio, nothing comes close to touching Mark Levinson systems in Lexus cars. Mark Levinson is a highly regarded brand with a similar reputation as McIntosh products. It's not fair that the JDM Subaru's have the option of getting a McIntosh stereo because if that was an option here, I'd say "yes please" without a second thought.

It's hard to say if you will see any gains on an 06 WRX. On the 2.0L WRX intakes made little to no diffrence in performance but on the STi's they actually do well with an intake. And since the new WRX is a 2.5L it may act like the STi but I can't say for certain.

The Cobb Ap is a great product, I was running a stage 2 on my 03 wagon and it was great. So much more responsive and alot more midrange and top end power. You don't have to run Cobb exhaust parts for the stage 2, I was using a HKS downpiep and a borla cat-back with great results.

Too bad what happende to you RSX, but atleast you got a great replacement!

Every new subaru owner coming from some other tuner type car thinks intakes are great....but for the 80000000th time, unless you are pushing well over 350hp with tuned EM, the stock intake is your best bet on our cars.

As a former Integra GS-R and Prelude owner, I've always known that the RSX sucks major buttmud.

Congrats on your WRX. Nice to have a car with some character, isn't it?

my rsx would pull on every stock bug-eyed wrx at second/third gear...
but that's just going straight though.

i wonder who would win... rsx with hondata... or wrx with cobb stage 1.

What a waste of time and money. Hard to believe people are that stupid.
Why not start with something fast instead something slow and making it fast?

haha... and you think Bose sounds good? Ever heard of Eclipse? Focal? Diamond Audio?

As for the intake, read the unibomber's intake FAQ in the engine forum. they're pretty much useless. i found an AEM CAI for $60 tho, i couldnt pass it up.

Didn't think it was that misleading after reading his story. I DO think there should be a "I went from x to wrx yay" forum section though. Would probably help those who are thinking about getting the rex make their minds up quickly =)

Back to previously scheduled thread..........

I liked the fact that the WRX was fast when I bought it, but I really bought this car for the AWD handling. Lived in Germany for 2 years with a '91 Eagle Talon TSI and loved it. AWD+Turbo = Most bang for your buck IMHO.

I have an AEM CAI too btw...didn't put it on for performance (nor did I expect any), just for the sound =)

Because we are car enthusiasts..meaning we appreciate all makes and models of cars. Just cuz it's a Subaru site doesn't mean we hate on all other cars.

Another reason why Honda people get such a bad rep is they seem to be so immature and hate on other cars...

For everyone that says Bose sucks, SHUTTHE****UP as an in store tech for Bose, i have more inside than most, Our systems are unbeatable for the super small size, what if Bose made a 10-15k dollar system it would blow the competition away. Not everyone is an audiophile, Bose has found a market that makes us extremely profitable every year. And when it comes down to it, Lexus is not a "high end" auto.

Massarati comes with Bose
Ferrari comes with Bose
Porsche comes with Bose
Maybach come with Bose

Acura comes with Bose
Nissan comes with Bose
Infinity comes with Bose
Mazda comes with Bose
GM comes with Bose

So there is the list of Auto makers who feel its worth the money to have Bose

Nice way to represent the company.

The Bose name is marketable, which is why it ends up as the "premium" sound system in a lot of vehicles. I definitely don't have much positive to say about my experiences with their equipment.

Extremely profitable does not equal quality. Not by a long shot. Your attitude is like your product, it sucks.

Don't know what it is now, but it used to be one of the premier names in high-end audio equipment, strictly audiophile stuff. I have a Nac tuner and amp and it's 25 years old and still very solid with excellent sound and features. Far better than the junk they sell today.
