Thumbs up Liberty Autocity, Libertyville, IL

Positives:
$1000 below MSRP.
5 minutes to make a deal, minimal haggling.
6.0 % financing
Test drove all alone (twice)
Very good customer service

Negatives:
3 hours to go through all paperwork
2 major mathematical errors in write-up that I caught ($1000 each, go figure)
Enough with the rustproofing! Geez, I DON'T want it.

All in all, I am extremely happy with the deal, the dealership, and the customer service. I would reccoment Bob Yanca or Elmer Hansen to anyone interested.

Hey hey hey...got my 2001 RS from there too, really happy with them there, got it from a guy named Gus Gilg, real honest guy got a really good deal on my car came out too 18,801 with tax, fees, and all the other BS, Test drove my Scooby twice also with no one else, I love when dealerships do that, havent got it serviced there, but they got one of the best Subaru techs there, his names Axle (I think)?
Good luck with the WRX

Funny you mention that. I spent about 30 minutes talking about STi parts with Axle just last Thursday. He was a nice guy, and very knowledgeable.

Too bad they couldn't do something about my groovy brakes. But that is not the dealer's issue. . . See the related "groovy brakes" thread in WRX Non-Technical.

I'm a Bob Yanca fan also!

I called there one day and shot over that early PM (after talking to Bob over the phone).

Bob was with another customer when I got there so someone got a car ready for me to test drive. They let you take it out all alone.

Then when I came back, I sat down with Bob, he worked some quick numbers and I then mentioned that I'll have to drag (sometimes I don't think she has arms or legs) the wife on by to see what she thinks.

We go there late on Saturday PM (after the WTC attacks = no dealership traffic). We test drive an automatic and the one that I will eventually buy. In fact, I assume Bob knew what options/color I wanted (after talking) because that's that car they've got me test driving (w/4 miles on it). Kind of a nice move, actually. IOW, I didn't think that was pushy at all.

My wife and I sit down, talk a little more (very little about the deal but more about life, cars, etc.). Bob's a really refreshing guy. I also talked to Elmer when I was there.

Car was prepped very, very well (and timely). Paperwork finals were simple and straightforward.

No complaints whatsoever. Very nice experience. Granted, I haven't been to service yet.

Axle became a friend of mine since I am on my 3rd subaru. He knows what he is doing. I would trust him with any subaru out there. He works on my SVX when it needs it. I would be here all day if I said all the good things that I could about him.

Cool

I know axle and gus gilig, I worked at liberty subaru for a few years. I was the import service manager. The sales and service people there do a hell of a good job. They also have a mechanic named elisha, he is also a very knowledgable mechanic. If you stop by tell them tim said hi.

Thumbs up got mine

I am an allstate employee so we got a prefered buyers deal with them...neway got my car 500 over invoice + that weird 150 regional advertising fee. dealt with gus and was extremely straight forward. he screwed up on the math though and stupid me corrected him...well it would have been 250 in my favor he was like ' thanks for catching that ' DOH...the pains of being a financial analyst.
ordered my baby and itll be here mid june. only gripe it that libertyville is so freakin far north in chicago.

ill see if i can befriend this guy axle u guys talk about. maybe could give me some insite on the parts i want to get.

Smile Excellent dealership

I just got my new wrx wagon last night. I had ordered it about 6 weeks ago. Elmer Hansen was just marvelous. He gave me a great price and tried to make sure all my questions were answered. He made the whole buying process simple.

Since Elmer is quite busy, he turned me over to Art Aceves, who kept me informed regarding the due date of my car. Art also researched and found a tire dealership (Duxler Firestone in Libertyville) that would swap the oem re92's for Dunlop sp sport 5000's for a very reasonable price. Art even drove my car over and had the tires put on before I picked up my car last night. Talk about service!!

Overall, I would strongly recommend Liberty Autocity to anyone in the Chicagoland area. Great people = great service!!

Unhappy Liberty AutoCity Libertyville

Be careful if you have Liberty AutoCity service your car. I took my car in for service and was charged 50% over MSRP for the parts used. When I complained I was told this is how they do business. I plan to go somewhere else in the future. Before you agree to have any work done check the part price against another dealer or online.

Cool

I purchased a WRX Wagon from Libertyville Subaru (Illinois) and I agree with the other posts I have seen. Both Bob Yanca and Elmer Hanson were great to work with. I went up there looking for a WRX Wagon and my wife was thinking about a bigger wagon.

They let us test drive a number of wagons (Legacy GT, Outback Sport, Imprezza Sport Wagon, etc.) on our own. Just took basic information and we were on our way.

We ended up with the WRX wagon in the end mostly because the sport seats were the most confortable.

I also got a very good deal on the price as well.

I had them add the sub-woofer (4 months after I bought the car) and they gave me a discount on parts and labor

I will never go back to that place because of their terrible service department.
