Anyone have this? Did search found info on cobb cat back but not the aps-cobb high output. And like many other wrx owners I am sure, I dream about having one of the cobb-aps systems installed.
So what type of performance gains would I get by installing this on my car. And not being a mechanic how difficult would this be to install myself? Or would it be better left to a professional. PLus I have heard that when installing aftermarket engine parts that the car computer gets messed up and causes the service light to go off or something - whats that? And last is there a better exhaust system I should look at? the reason I am intrested in the aps-cobb exhaust is because later in the year I will be in texas and perhaps might get some aps-cobb parts installed and cobb said their exhaust works best with the rest of their parts. Well thanks very much, I am a young driver who loves to learn more about my car. All infomation and ADVICE would be greatly appreciated. - kevin.

I've exchanged posts with some of the guys in the Texas forum. I've heard nothing but good things about the Cobb Club Spec kit, which is the APS stage 1 kit (280hp)with a minor change or two. The changes are geared for easily moving up to the stage2 kit(320hp). Also, Cobb Tuning is installing an all wheel drive dyno. It' supposed to be up and running sometime this month.
I'm still trying to decide which kit I want to go with. In the mean time I'm waiting for Cobb to call me and schedule me in. AND I CAN'T WAIT MUCH LONGER!!!! ![]() darryl |

To go along with this, I just got an email from Josh at Cobb. The redesign of the APS high output system (to let it mate up to the Cobb SS Catback) is now complete. He said they're expecting their shipment soon. So for all you suckers out there (like me) who just bought the catback, thinking you'd be happy with just that and you didn't need to go full turboback, you can now have full turboback w/one high flow cat.
Yippee! |

the APS kit performance difference is just what it says.
227 horsepower to 280hp. mid 14s in the 1/4 mile to mid 13s in the quarter mile. or better. I had the kit installed a few days ago. There are no issues with it. No check engine lights, no nothing. Just goes faster. I just got done autocrossing it today, so I put a good beating on it, and no problems. I also drove from dallas back home to houston after getting it installed. No problems. Gas mileage was the same or better. the exauhst is not loud at all. No highway drone whatsoever. You can just barely tell its there at idle. The APS kit is EXCELLENT. and I dont just say this as some naive WRX newbie. I've previously owned a modified Mustang GT, and been around car people a long time. This kit is very very complete, well thought out, well done, and effective. |

there was a magazine that did a dyno test of just the exauhst. Not much gain at all. You need some sort of boost controll to get much out of any exauhst.

substantial gains as in "I dynoed it before and after/I took it to the track before and after"
or "Throttle response seems much improved!" I never trust what people feel. for good reason! ![]() |
