Default Top Gear 2005 Ownership Survey

I was just watching the new season premiere of Top Gear and they mentioned the survey results, so I decided to look them up...

Here are the top ten http://www.bbc.co.uk/topgear/survey/top_10.shtml :

1: Honda S2000
2: Lexus IS200/300
3: Lexus RX300
4: Skoda Superb
5: Skoda Octavia
6: Honda Jazz
7: Honda Accord
8: Subaru Legacy
9: Skoda Fabia
10: Subaru Forester

Subaru had 2 of the top 10, which is excellent, since there were ~150 cars. Of course this is a UK survey, and hense UK models, but with 76,000 responces its a pretty thorough Survey...

And here are the bottom 10 for fun:

150: Citroën Xsara
151: Peugeot 206
152: Renault Mégane (Nov '02 on)
153: Rover 25
154: Fiat Stilo
155: Mercedes M-Class
156: Renault Laguna
157: Renault Espace
158: Peugeot 307
159: Peugeot 807

And the category winners:

Small car: Honda Jazz
Compact car: Mazda 323
Medium car: Skoda Superb
Executive car: Lexus IS
MPV: Mazda Premacy
4x4/SUV: Lexus RX300
Sports car: Honda S2000
Super sports: Porsche 911

www.finalgear.com is what everyone I know uses to watch the episodes. That or the files over on www.wrxfanatics.com

Why would you ask me if i'm in the US when my location says where I am?

hm........i clicked on the link and i don't know what they are judging on. top 10 in dependability? top 10 in owner satisfaction? top 10 in initial quality? top 10 vehicles to hot-box in?
.
.
.
.
i had to do some clicking to find "Cars were rated for reliability, driving enjoyment and dealer service."

ah, that's what i was looking for.

What aspect of the cars were people asked to rate? I bet it wasn't "Most fun to drive." I'd imagine that the WRX STI would kill a Mazda 323 in that category.

They rated everything, they mentioned it in the episode, but I never did the survey so I don't know what was exactly in it.

Top Gear is shown on the Discovery Channel. It usually runs on Wednesday at 7 p.m or 11 pm (PST -DirectTV). Season must be over since i have not seen it in 3 weeks. Good show!

If anyone wants the full survey results, they can be found here:

http://www.topgear.com/content/featu...ries/01/1.html

By the way, the Subaru Impreza ranked #26

Also, if you've got a broadband connection, use bittorrent to grab these shows as they're showing over in the U.K. - it's the only way to go. I've been watching this season's Fifth Gear and Top Gear, and it's amazing how much they butcher the American versions.

Thats not the real top gear. Just a rehash of UK episodes. Its off the air cause they ran out of episodes, aparently they are "re-tooling" the show more for the U.S. audience (IE crapifying it) and are going to release those episodes sometime in the future...

ya, but the impreza they have is the jdm ones... 1.6L or 2.0L
we have 2.5L in north america. So the engine performance should be better for the usdm ones. Other than that, the rest should be relatively the same.

I feel bad for the frenchies...
top 13 cars from the bottom, 10 of them are french. However, i loved the comment jeremy clarkson commented on with the french cars and the current french situation

If you have the Speed Channel, Fifth Gear (real episodes of the UK show) is available, albeit at horrible times (single digit AM). I usually catch it On-Demand.

[Obligatory Dig]
Prime-time is reserved for NASCAR.
