Default STi Short SHifter, did I get hosed?

I bought this shifter off of Ebay as a STi short shifter (factory linkage). Comes in the Short shifter box.

(Also ordered the TIC kit)

I finally get around to installing it, and pull out my linkage, only to see that they are identical in every aspect I can see.

So, one of two things happened.

1. I have a factory short shifter setup already
2. I got hosed.

Anyone know the measurements or have a pic of the differences?

Here are pics of mine. The one out of my car is on top (the nice and clean looking one)- Sorry for a bad pic, but they are literally identical.

Needless to say, I added all the TIC stuff to my linkage and reinstalled.

sounds like you bought exactly what was offered.

the STi factory shifter. (which is shortened, over the wrx unit, in throw range)

i believe the brochures say the sti comes with a short throw 6 speed tranny....

this is the nomenclature that gets most confused.

to go with the OPTIONAL short shifter is about 300-350$ more (did it on mine) and still lacks in the feel i want to get.... (will add the KB unit to the optinal SS i already have, for Uber-short throws....)

RE-CHECK THE EBAY AUCTION AND SEE IF THE TEXT IS MISLEADING; MAYBE YOU CAN RETURN IT...

Ese- Dang, they just took down the auction link. I thought I was getting the short shift linkage (the $300 option) I wanted exactly what you want.

I just wanted to see if by chance this was short shift linkage I had...
I have a STI BTW, not a normal WRX.

i still have my oem linkage, and can get the ###'s on it, if you want. my sti SS unit IS a lil shorter, but mostly the throws are lessened... (its nice, but not great)

you got the optional STi short-throw shifter. The short-throw improves shifts a measely 10%, almost everything is the same, the components are a little thicker and beefer, and i do believe the stick is *slightly* smaller. I too bought the short-throw from a dealer and was very dissapointed to find out its nearly identicle. Time for a kartboy

I went with all the Kartboy and such, I just thought there was a big difference in linkage itself
