Default Ahhhhh Chk Engine Light!!!!

Lol ok heres the deal;

2002 2.5RS with a 04 STI body conversion
Has salvage title, and was in very very light accedent. ( When i got it, the bumper and lights were still undamaged. only hood and fenders damaged.)
52,000 miles on it, and its my baby.
I have been building it so it can pass NYS Salvage Inspection but ive ran into a problem... The check engine light comes on.

I have some friends who have connections. I had the car takin to a guy who did a diagnostic test on the car. The reading came up as "Unknown Reason" . Now this to me is a problem, how can i fix it, if i cant even find out what i need?!....

Now everyone tells me not to panic , but i cant help it, almost 10 months into the project and now i got another opstical. So can someone help me out....

Help me out, Please!!!!!
~Drew

maybe get a better code reader...

the local dealership might even help you out if you ask them nicely.

If you take it to a Shuck's Auto Supply, or something like it in your neck of the woods, the should hook it up for free to a diagnostics comp. That's what they do in WA anyways. They even provided a free print out of what the code was and what the reasons behind the codes are.

Good Luck

What was the exact code that was stored, in Pxxxx format? You may not actually have a bad 02 sensor, it is very important to follow the proper troubleshooting procedure for that specific code before blindly replacing parts that may be good.
If you are referring to the front 02 sensor, one from a WRX will NOT fit your RS.

Im not exactly sure which code it was, mainly because my father and brother took the car while i was in class. I came back and all they told me was that it was the o2 sensor. The one that i have from a 03 Rex is a front sensor, so im still unclear which is which on my car. Im a total moron when it comes to simple stuff Can someone tell me what is the front, and wat is (what im assuming) the back. Lol
Thanks
Andrew

Forget about using that front 02 sensor from a WRX, it won't work.
You still need to know what the code was. If it hasn't been cleared yet the code will still be in the ECU memory so it could be read out again.
