Default ITG and K&N Air Filters and other CAI....Suggestions Please.

Hi all,

I hope someone can help answer a couple questions regarding Air Filters. I know that this topic has been discussed some....but
i wanted to add couple things also.......

I have about 2000k on my WR Blue WRX. I am looking to upgrade my Air Filter, and I have searched and reviewed these forums. From what I have read I am leaning torward the ITG Panel Filters.......but Today I picked up the lastest Sports Compact Car mag at the bookstore.......it rated 6 WRXs and listed their different mods. Quite impressive. Most of them dropped in a K&N Filter, wonder why ITG was not used.
M2 Performance, Vishnu Performance, and SPO used the K&N filters......not sure about the other 2.
Any thougts?

Also I was thinking about going for the MRT Rampod. I don't know if I should just get a better filter....maybe the MRT Rampod, or another CAI system. I guess it depends on what I want to $pend. But I want to get the best bang for the buck and definitely for the long-run......

What are the advantages between going with just a good filter and the MRT RAMPOD or other CIA systems?
This is the first car I have bought that I want to modify some. As you can tell.....I'm a little new at this.

Thanks for any thoughts and suggestions.

Maybe it's because the K&N flows more air than the ITG, when clean. However, as it accumulates dirt, the K&N doesn't flow as well as the ITG. So, in a daily driver, real world type situation the ITG may be the better choice. In a racing application or where you're looking to make the absolute max power, and if you're willing to clean it often, the K&N might be the better choice.

djerickd - Thanks for the offer, but I was actually think about getting the ITG panel filter...

harrydog - That sounds about right....thanks for the insight. I will probably go with the ITG filter.

Anyone have any input regarding the MRT Rampod and other CAI? Also the advantages of going with a CAI vs just upgrading my filter? I still not sure what I should do yet. Thanks!!!
