Default Steel Wheels (no rubber) Ottawa - Montreal

Here is the response from Lachute Subaru with respect to getting
some winter steelies. All dealing is through them, not me, I just
got a price from them! You should probably mention the I-club
when you order.

Big note: Order is to be placed by Friday Sept 7, noon.

Quote(s):
No problem to post that on the club but the only slight problem is that I would need to know as soon as friday the number of people interested, I have to place the order before friday noon... The contact should be myself, Julien Pilon, I am in charge of the performance division with Rejean...

Thanks for the e-mail.I do not think I can help with a good price on tires as we do not volume that much.Price for 15 inch steel wheels is 60$.The best price we find is for forester wheels,65$,including the center cap.

Best regards

Thanks Robin. I've never dealt with them but it sounds like a few
people have with good success, and it looks like Westboro is
ROTFL at >$100 per rim.

If there are a few people ordering, maybe a Sat. morning run or
mini-meet to Lachute would be fun too. That would be a photo
op - a bunch of Soobs on the Cumberland Masson ferry!

Cheers.....

Subaru Lachute is very popular between the Ottawa and Montreal subaru clubs....... You can't go wrong with them.....

To get there, you don't need to take the ferry in Cumberland..... I know since I live in Cumberland village.....

Stay on Highway 17 till you reach Hawksbury.... then cross over and take highway 148 east.... this will lead you into Lachute....

We could always do a mini meet there.... we did one last year with the Montreal Club (during the winter)....

Is $60 a good price, tho? Not to knock Lachute or anything, I deal with them alot, and I'm not saying that theyre ripping us off, I'm sure that $60 for OE steelies is great, BUT, I hear you can get steelies at Costco for around $30-45. Anyone hear of this? Are these "generic" steelies the wrong offset or something?

Default What about 16" steelies??

How about 16" steel wheels? I still have my Talon's winter tires which are brand new, but they're 16".

I guess I'll ask Lachute...

Gooseman,

Shop around but I highly dought you'll find much cheaper......

When I bought mine about 2 years ago, I tried everywhere Costco, Crappy tire, etc... and they all said they didn't carry Subaru steel rims....

I then checked the dealers and Lachute was the only one under $100... their price at the time was $65 plus tax.....

I even tried to find Legacy take-off at various junkyards in Ontario and couldn't find a set....

Maybe it has changed since Subaru are sold more often but keep in mind the $35 price is for 13" steel rims.....

BTW, the forester steel rims are pretty nice... 5 star pattern....

I asked at Costco before and the guy didn't even have a catlogue
to check but he doubted that they would have any, because they
really only carry the truly generic ones. I am pretty certain that I
paid 59 for them for my Intrepid. I am most likely going to get
some Alpins there. I paid some ridiculously low price for a set a
215/70/15s (like 45-50 per corner less than the 225/60/16s).
That is another reason I am going to 15s for the winter.

Anyhow, I am in, and let Julien know. Sorry, I didn't ask about
16" ones. Give them a call.

Default For wrx?

I e-mailed Julien to ask about WRX rims since Robin mentioned (in the e-mail) that these won't fit the WRX.

I asked if the problem was that 16" rims would be required. If he says anything about the 16" price, I'll let you guys know.

Default Steel rims

My dealer is checking if Subaru steel rims designed for Outback H6 (16") will fit WRX. He said is cost is 70$ per wheel. I totally trust him (plus he's my cousin .

I'll keep you informed on the possible fit.

Thumbs up

OK, I'm in too! $60 each? Cool. Lemme get it straight tho..these are the Forester ones? Or just plain black steel rims? Not that I mind either way, they're jsut for winter....but the Forester ones are kinda cool!

I might actually be at Lachute this weekend for test fitting of my *secret* WRX skidplate ....if anyone needs anything!

IIRC:

$60 - plain steelies (not sure what colour)
$65 - Forester steelies w/center cap

Remember - order has to be in by Friday noon.

$65 for the Forester wheels sounds pretty good. But $60 for the blacks is a bit much. I got 15" black steels from Dartmouth Surplus in Nova Scotia for $35 each, brand new, correct offset and everything. You could get them shipped to Ontario and still probably come out ahead.

I heard back from Julien on WRX rims. $75 for 16" ones. He has no solution for 15" ones (I want to re-use previously year tires)

Hi all,
$60 is good price I believe as I brought mine last year $70 per corner at Westboro. At the time, no one carried after market steelies for Subaru. Walmart did offer to order a set for me but at $59 per corner, ouch!
My friend brought his Forester steelies last year at Ogilvie also at $70 per rim but that did not come with center cap.
Depending where you get your steelies, most of them come from Mexico or some other third world countries where labour is cheap. My subaru steelie has "Made in USA" stamped inside the wheel.

Default Just Ordered

Hi All,

I just ordered 4 * 16"s. Lachute estimates that the wheels will arrive in 2+ weeks.
