a stock s2000 will not stand a chance. i've owned both and my stage 2 wrx w/ uppipe felt much faster than a s2000.

thats assuming your going from a dig or a low mph roll. if you start at a high mph, which you shouldnt, since street racing is illegal, it might hang.

Yeah I dont street race. But if I pull up on one at a light, I'll go heads up to about 60mph just to see whose pulling on who.

the wrxs are geared for a good 0-60 time 2nd gear tops out at 64mph i think.

awd + long 2nd = good 0 -60

s2k is about 200whp and about 2800lbs. powerband is from 6k-9k. gearing is much shorter than the wrx.

Yea I've noticed that. Good launch then into second, it's like holy s--t I'm already going 60. I love being at a light in the front and just jetting off the line like a race horse when the gate opens. I look back in my miror I'm like damn thats some power, I give hoots and stuff like yeah baby! wooohooo. I wonder what people think, "damn thats a quick station wagon". Awesome, I love it.

thanks link. I've ben kinda hesitant about the s2000 because its so small and I wasnt sure on its performance. Now i'm more confident and wont be afraid to pull off the line on one next time.

This is such a silly statement. Torque gets you going and helps coming out of turns but other than than its hp moving you along. A torqeless wonder Honda really pulls hard at highway speeds in the VTEC range.

Interesting statements. I never realized how much power a wrx has off the line. I mean it's not like your going to go 100moh on the street. I like having the awd launching it off the line just hooking up so good, it's great. Especially the wrx wagon just bonig out and many people tell me they didnt expect m car to be as fast as it is. I've had my car almost a year and I thought i knew the power prety good and sometimes it still amazes me. I'll be driving and just getting on it and i'm like damn, it still very impressive.

It's a silly statement because he has it completely backwards. If you were to drive a 200whp torquey car and a 250whp peaky car, the 200whp car might "feel" quicker, since the power is always there- but the 250whp car is obviously going to be faster. "Torque wins races" is a ridiculous statement, unless we're talking about a tractor pull!

just make sure you're racing the quarter mile, or a fairly short distance from a dig. in the end, he'll catch you for sure. lighter, similar power level, better gearing. your torque advantage means very little in a race like this, all he has to do is keep the revs up.
0-100, stage 2 wrx wins
100-top speed, s2k wins

yea I know. But it's fun, it's not like 'm pulling to a 100, just pull off the line, like 50 yard race.

On a real track, you'd get whooped, with no other mods.

ok enough with the cheesy E-races and go enjoy your cars. Every car has there strong points. how about an ice race vs an s2000? now thatd be worth it

s2k's are not slow cars. Neither is a WRX though.
If you mis shift, you lose. If you shift too early you loose. If you blow your engine, you loose. If you cant launch, you loose.
In the end, if you cant drive well, You loose.

But this is the 2.0L forum. Not who will win forum. You should ask the question, Will a 2.0L EJ205 Turbo beat a s2000 engine.

IBTM?

Ran my stg 2 wagon at a track day lately. All runs onto the front straight from 60 mph to 120 mph, would pull the s2000's each and every time. Well driven s2000 was a b*tch in the corners though. I need suspension in a bad way. WRX was a body roll queen with stock suspenders

regardless of who said it, its still quite nonsensical. But i do have respect for Mr. Shelby. Horsepower is just an equation of torque and RPM.
Torque alone doesnt win anything but more so gearing and powerband.
And You only need small amounts of torque to make big power at high RPM.
Tell that quote to an F1 engine builder and see how fast he will make carrol shelby sound stupid.
But thats just thinking too much.

According to motor trend a s2000 does 0-60 in 5.8 seconds
http://motortrend.com/roadtests/coup...ee/index7.html

According to cobb a stage 2 WRX does 0-60 in 4.6 seconds
http://cobbtuning.com/wrx/power-s.html#stage2

So you should be about a second faster.
