Default What weight oil to use in 97-98 2.5liter?

Like it says above. I did a 2.5 swap into my 95 and am not sure if the requirements for the 2.5 are the same as my older 1.8. I don't want to lose any hp by using too high of a viscosity. I currently use 10w-30.
-Had a 1.8 that required 10w-30
-Swapped engine to newer 2.5 (97-98)

Book says 5w30 up to ~100F and 10w30 for temps over 100 F I live in sw Fl where temps are in the 90s most of the year and my drives are mostly over 50 mies so I use 10w30.

My '98 Legacy Outback user manual for the 2.5 allows use of 10W40 for low-to-high temps. I always err on the side of heavier oil, since the automobile industry is opting for the lighter stuff to increase CAFE, at the possible expense of engine parts.
