Default Thought I escaped the dreaded CEL bug, but....

1488 miles on my WRX SportWagon and bam!!! a CEL on Monday afternoon.

I though I was going to get away lucky because I have an Auto (no flaming please!), and most all the CEL posts I've seen are 5 speeds but it got me. I have to go to the dealer Sat. so it is garaged until then. I will post what code the OBD computer throws and anything the service tech tells me.

I noticed the car sputtering a little earlier that day, so I am wondering if it was a tank of bad gas (I made sure the gas cap clicked about 15 times, so it isn't that). It would s*ck if that turns out to be the problem. I have never had a car that I had to take for service ( an ECU reset) every time I got a tank of bad gas. Can our cars be that darn sensitive?

I will post what code the OBD computer throws and anything the service tech tells me. Anyone have a similar sounding problem?

CEL= Check Engine Light

Bone stock, except for a pair of driving lights and WRB side skirts. I have not done any engine mods. I just had the '1000 mile service' done too (oil and filter).

Default P1443!!!!!!!

Just got back from the Service Dept. As so many others on here have experienced, It got the dreaded P1443 error code (Evaporation emmission control system vent control function problem).

They pulled the ECM and sent it to SOA for reprogramming, so I have to be without my baby for four daysThey told me there is no problem with the vent, it is the software in the ECM that is causing it to incorrectly register an error. SOA will flash and reprogram it, which will supposedly fix the problem.

I sure hope it does. I guess sooner or later everyone will need to have this problem addressed. I'll update this if I get any new news.
