Default FS: Alpine 9835 Head Unit - CD / MP3 Player - 3 Year Warranty - $350 installed

SOLD

SOLD

SOLD

I purchased this Alpine 9835 head unit roughly 6 months [edit: paperwork says purchase date was 1/13/05 - woops] ago and it really rocks. Anyone who is familliar with car audio knows this is the no-compromise best of the best in car audio.
However since I have a bad habit of getting lost all the freakin time I decided to get a navigation system so needed to replace it with something that has a screen. Otherwise I have a feeling I would have never let this thing go... it certainly seems to be preferred over the newer 9855 that replaced it.
I shop around for the things I buy for my car and this was no exception. You can adjust the color of the buttons to any of 500+ colors including a green that matches the stock lighting perfectly.
Anyways the thing is in mint condition as I am overly careful with all of my things and it includes an extended 3 year warranty from tweeter. I have the original box and all original paper work and even plastic bags and foam it was shipped in. You'll basically feel like you are getting a brand new unit when you open it up. I am also including quick harnesses that go from subaru-generic and generic-alpine so this will take no time at all on the install... very very dummy proof.
Here are actual photos of the unit I have for sale. I take extremely good care of my things and always keep boxes and paperwork. Its essentially just like new as you can see...

PHOTOS REMOVED, ITEM SOLD

in case anyone is wondering about the yellow wire on the harness, alpine highly recommends that you run power straight from the battery because the internal amp on this head unit is quite powerful. the yellow wire has an inline fuse and just needs to be ran straight to the battery. other than that, plug the harness in and you're done.

The head unit was $550, the harnesses were $40, and the extended warranty was $70 if I remember correctly, so you're looking at a pretty hefty pricetag, especially when you add tax in there.
I'd just like to ask $350 for this unit which is absolutely like new, and I will commision a professional installer of mine to install it for you for free if you can come to me/him and work around his schedule. No the price will not be cheaper if you install it yourself, just trying to sweeten the deal there .
So let me know if you have any questions about anything. It is already uninstalled and sitting in the box ready to go. If you want actual photos I would be happy to take some for you but like I said... mint mint mint.
Thanks,
Bryan

Do you have full control of the Ipod from the HU? Will it display artists, songs, etc?

two ways:
kca-4201i puts the interface and display "into" the radio ("Full integration"). Some people love it...some people hate it. Read the reviews on the crutchfield link.

http://www.alpine-usa.com/products/l...h_kca-420i.htm
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-qRxV5CT...0&i=500KCA420I

The other thing people are doing is using the RCA to Mbus:
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-qRxV5CT...&search=alpine

in combination with (guessing) a miniplug to RCA like this:
http://www.xtrememac.com/audio/thin_home_stereo.shtml
http://www.xtrememac.com/audio/audiokit_ipod.shtml

The "kit" includes the mini to RCA and the car charger needed for this setup; it comes with other goodies, too. I guess the plus of this is you have full control (using the Ipod normally, natch), but still a wired (=no static) connection.I don't know why these people are not just getting this cable by itself:
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-qRxV5CT...&search=alpine

Got me...phew...that being said...I'm probably gonna take my chances with the 420 interface....having the text and the controls in the same place, I can hide the Ipod in the glove compartment. Oh...yeah, it displays text..sometimes you have to fidget with the display settings to get it to display the information you want, less of a hassle if you've got things filed/named consistently.

hope it helps...er, to be ON topic:
Brian, does the display (where the text is) change colors too? I know the buttons do

ha thanks for all the info... yes this head unit interfaces with the ipod, one of the reasons i went with the 9835 over other models is because of the screen which displays much more information than any of the other lower models.
i have the ipod interface and although it isnt perfect, it is by far the best solution right now, in my opinion. i kept my ipod in my center console and just selected whatever i wanted to hear through the ipod since it does indeed display all of the info right on the head unit.
if you do pick this head unit up and would like to also get yourself the ipod adapter at the same time, i can have my installer put that in for you as well...

bryan
edit: forgot to address the questions.

1. the ipod will display artist/album/song info on the head unit
2. the screen stays the same color all the time but all of the buttons can change to an unlimited number of colors to match your dash perfectly.

hey u still selling this? I am VERY INTERESTED!

Do you also have the kca-4201i for the iPod?

Do you know if the only difference between the 9855 and 9835 is the biolite? Why do u think ppl like the 9835 over the 9855?

i own a kca-420i but wasnt planning to sell it with the head unit. the offer i made above was that if you provided your own kca-420i that it would be installed free of charge along with the head unit. of course that might be a problem since you're in NH, but oh well, its still a good deal without the install. if you need help with that i'm confident i can guide you through the install start to finish especially since i'm including the wiring harness that makes it plug n play basically.
it is still available, sitting in its box in my room pretending (and doing a good job) that its brand new on the shelf in tweeter.
let me know if you have any other questions about it or want to see some photos...
thanks for the interest.

I updated my original post, but sure some photos of your actual unit would be helpful. Im torn between buying a BRAND new 9855 or your 9835. The 9835 is XM ready correct? (As in buy Reciever and Antenee seperately)

very similar units except the big difference is in that scrolly thing that the 9855 has instead of actual buttons. it sounded cool in theory and i thought i'd be jealous, but if you look around you'll find that most dont like it and its quirky and therefore most prefer the 9835.
also remember the $40 harness and $70 3 year extended warranty that mine has, and lets not forget about $36 worth of tax.
ok i'm done putting the hard press on . let me know what you decide...
bryan
edit: just reread your post and the 9835 also has BioLite... its a great screen on both the 35 and 55. like i said above the biggest difference is that scroll pad they have on the 55.
edit 2: read more carefully and yes the 9835 is XM ready

Well im 99.9% sure about buying it from you since it does come with the warranty and the $40 harness plus other plug and play stuff. I just want to be assured it is in good condition before laying down the cash. Pictures of it and proof of the warranty would be quite helpful.

Also if you are willing to sell your kca-420i let me know the price (not sure why if you would still need it without the Alpine). About the buttons vs the slide...I played with the slide today and it seemed similiar to buttons in that u could press different sections on the slide bar it it felt 'like a button below it'. Anyways, I think Id be happy saving the cash and buying this. I mainly just want a good intereface to my ipod and XM radio (cant wait for Bball season to start again hehe).

i got a different alpine unit (IVA-D300) and am still using the kca-420i but it doesnt interface as well on my new much more expensive unit as it did on the 9835 so although i'm not quite ready to sell it yet i am getting kind of fed up with it.
i can defintely understand that you'd like to see pics and will get some up late tonight. i'm running out the door now so check back at 11pm tonight or tomorrow morning.
thanks
