The 2.2L with a single exhaust port first appeared in '96. Primarily because CA emission 2.2L vehicles were classified TLEV (transient low emission vehicle) and received some other changes as well. The single exhaust port helps theh Cat. Convertor heat up to operating temp faster.

I was curious, I have the 2.2L heads with the dual outlets. I think the 2.5L headers will fit my car. I'm hoping anyway.
