Talking 1rst and 2nd gear are fun!

My 1.8 is turning into more fun than I thought it would be

Today I "accidentily" sliped lauched first gear a bit for the first time. I was sitting behind a "Icy Hot Stuntaz" truck who I expected to accelerate hard off the light... instead he kinda sat there, and I used a bit to much gas, and put the clutch down to slow down, but I didnt ease the gas right, and let the clutch back up and ZOOOOOOM! *Brake* Whoops! Almost got him, but BOY did the car launch suddenly!

I have most of my fun off of lights with me in front and getting up to 5500rpm's and shifting to 2nd and going up to 5500rpms again... Cause after that, the 1.8 kinda dies But the cool thing is I can really hear that nice and throughty Boxer sound! FUN!

I need to fix my suspension and get new wheels to have some actual fun in the twisties and turns though, but that cant be acomplished with my remaining $100... Im saving up though

i dunno. everyone says 1.8s are slow, but i've never had a problem keeping up with anything once i'm outta 1st... then again, light weight saves my arse (read: no awd) in the occasional stoplight GP.

i'd turbo my car, but then i'd only be even with an RS...at "normal" levels of boost anyways...

I'd say you'd be more even with a civic, unless you got a supercharger !

btw its not the brightest idea to use the first gear in high revs if you want your car to last...

huh?? why not?? aslong as you shift smooth and stuff you are ok!!! it's not like it hurts the motor cause it revs faster

the thing that i heard is that when you rev the engine with out any load on it like reving it in neutral is not good for the engine... and same thing for 1st gear ..

if you look at manufactures what ever that is called you will see that it says to change the first gear at about 3k and all the other gears at 4k...

Manufactures tell you that bull to keep them from being in trouble...

This car doesnt have any power unless its between 3000-5500 rpms (6000 redline), but of course, I DONT drive like that all the time, and I do shift out of first as soon as possible cause its so loud and complainy
