Thank you~
I purchased the Genome exhaust from japanparts.com, so you can check the price there!

I am just running the axle-back with stock downpipe! Is it not normal to have little back fire?
Actually I dun even hear or notice there is backfire!

Nice looking car...is the pink lettering on your tail pipe painted or a sticker? Won't it burn off? Anything else done to the car? looks sharp.

Tora,

All the lettering on the Genome exhaust is painted~
I don't think it will burn off, i am guessing the paint must be heat-resistant!

Performance wise is basically stock except the exhaust~
The current mods I have: (mainly exterior)
1) JDM Headlights with 8300K HID
2) V-Limited Front Lip
3) OEM Rear Aprons
4) Lowering Springs
5) STi Genome Axle-back Exhaust

and last but not least..........

6) Prodrive GC010E

the JDM STi HID are 8300k? or you changed the blubs? I have the same headlights but the color doesn't look like 8300k to me...

When I first bought the car it was completely stock and came with the subaru performance exhaust, which is a de-badged STi Genome exhaust. I hardly noticed a difference when I put a stock WRX CB on. You shouldn't be able to hear much (if any) backfire with a stock DP. With a shorty catless DP and stock 3rd cat, or a full length DP w/ highflow cat and a catback you will probably start to hear some backfire, but it still won't be too bad. If you go catless, then it's another story.

I know what some around here like to call it, and while "backfire" may not be as acurately descriptive as "afterfire", everyone I talk to, mechanic or not, knows what you are talking about when you say backfire. The only times I've heard of an intake "backfire" were when an injector leaked into the intake due to faulty installation (on a V8, not a Suby) and blew a hole through it, and the more common case of a nitrous exposion/backfire. In my mind, an intake backfire doesn't happen with enough regularity to really worry about the terminology.

Yeah I am confused with "afterfire" and "backfire" too... so with a catless DP and that axleback...the afterfire will occur often?

Ron, your car doesn't have any afterfire at all?

afterfire = car runs rich, the unburnt fuel gets burnt in the exhaust pipes, hence the pop sound

backfire = the mixture of air and gas detonates as they're entering the combustion chamber, or even outside the chamber

on the side note, I believe I get some afterfire... but not that obvious. Stock EM runs rich supposedly
