Question Anyone know a good place for an alignment?

In the bay area, preferably around Fremont area.

There are few mark morris motorsports in the bay area, that's a sweet deal lifetime alignments, before and after the track. only problem when I went there a couple of months ago, they didn't know how to align the rex yet. I guess they didn't have it in their computer or something, at least they were honest and didn't want to screw anything up. I am planning on going back there later. They will also match tirerack prices on tires too!

can you guys give an they can do the alignment for the rex.

hongkongbeef,

regular alignment or custom alignment? if you are using coilovers, then i'd recommend C 2 automotive in oakland. they aligned my setup thats including corner weighing and balance. $200

hmm.. i just have springs on my stock struts.. do i need a custom alignment for that? I didn't think an alignment would run $200!

just wondering what is the difference between a custom and regular alignment?

cuz when i talked to the guys at mark morris, i told them the specs that i wanted and they were different than what the manual said. only thing that prevented them was the fact they had never done a wrx and there wasn't a diagram of the bolts and stuff.

regular alignment would be within factory specs.

custom alignment will depends on what type of driving style you are getting into, say autox, road race or spirit driving. i have mine done at C 2 Automotive because they were able to corner weigh each corner of my car and adjust the ride height accordingly.

if you are not sure what alignment specs you are looking for. do a search on suspension forum and there should have plenty of helpful information about it.

hope this helps..

Do alignments include fixing the speedo for larger tire diameters than stock?

nope, never heard of that; you'd have to go to a speedo shop....
and then be told that you can't do anything about it cuz its all in the ecu and even the dealer can't tell you where the sending units are and which one does speed.....grrrrrrrrrrrrr...........
If you want to recalibrate the speedo, AFAIK, your only option is the delimiter that MRT sells, and I have yet to hear whether it'll work for any US cars....
but i'm not bitter
as a general rule, you're hardly gonna notice anything below about 3% from stock, until you get moving quick....at 100, you'd only be doing 102-103 (with RS sizes, which is what i assume you want) and that's so close that it's within factory specs....on my OB, the limiter cuts in at 112 actual, an indicated 110, so it's a little off already.....
even going from OB size tires to RS sizes, you're only talking 4-5%, so it's hardly a big deal.....

I thought tito from redstar says Mike Morris isn't that great. any other places that do custom "lifetime" alignments? I think i need one very soon so i don't mess up my new tires. still haven't gotten an alignment since my susp upgrade

Oh and my new tires are smaller (and i think i stil hear rubbing) and notice at least 5-6mph difference on freeway driving. it says i'm goin almost 90mph but really like 80 (going with the flow of traffic)

Post Custom Alignment

Custom Alignment is a shop in Mountain View that does the best alignment in the Bay Area. They know Subaru's too. They do the alignment to any spec and get it right. They are comfortable and knowledgable with coil overs and all types of suspensions as well. I took my car to them ('00 RS) and they dialed in my exact specs for camber, caster and toe all the way around. Leveled my coil overs as well, even all the way around. Easy to work with, reasonably priced and the best work. Would highly recommend them, they know their ****!

Kevin's right, Custom Alignment rocks. I've been using one of their techs for almost 20 years. Wheel Works is abysmal; they're like the KMart of tire stores. If you talk to the guys that work there, you'll find that most of 'em are clueless. Spend the bucks, and get it done right!

-1 front and rear camber
0 front and rear toe

Dunno. I haven't the WRX done yet, but they're ~$65 for front wheel only. The # there is 650-961-5311.

To reiterate: Jack Chew is a master. He used to be at Custom Alignment; now he has his own shop. Check him out. (Info in above post.)

Happy Motoring
