Subframes?
Just wondering, I know that subaru basically takes its street car and tares it down and builds them back up into a WRC car... however, how different are the sub frames apposed to the normal frames? i realize they are reinforces, but would anyone have a diagram of the changes?
Thanks

GrN rear subframe identical to stock car. WRC car subframe substantially revised. Both cars entirely stitch welded.

I've seen some open class type cars (N. American and non-WRC foreign) with full tubular crossmembers and subframes. Lots of worked open class cars have lowered engines and revised suspension points, so fabricated tubular crossmembers are pretty much a necessity. I don't think you'd be able to get prints, but I'm sure places like prodrive, vt sportscar, autosport engineering, or rallispec would love to sell you one for thousands of dollars...

Rokkit (nice name btw)
I actually seriously doubt anyone has any of these in stock actually. most of the ones you can "buy" are for the WRC cars nowadays, in terms of track, susp pick up points, and hubs. But for some reason I have a complete set of front and rear chro-mo tubular subframes (bolt in - but you would need R180 rear hubs and 5spd front hubs) if you really want them. These are "Grp A" subframes, non-wide track. That would be the only thing that would fit bolt-in I think aside from the Prodrive "Open class spec" subframes. www.rocketrally.com -Pat |

The reason I ask is my friend and I are contemplating attempting that V mount setup like on the WRC cars... now its not going to be for a while, but I figured, what the heck, might as well start the research. I have been told that it will "NEVER WORK" cuz the front subframes are totally different on the WRC cars... I had my doubts in terms of the actual shape of the frames etc. Im trying to get a diagram of the front subframe so i can map out if this "idea" will be structurally feasable and, of course, safe. yeah like I said, you need grp A stuff from the late 90s to even come close to fitting (before they went to wide track), and possibly hubs. Or else the "new" Open class stuff (I believe its from the same jigs).
