Question Reading wiring diagrams before installing?

I know alot of the knowledge in this area comes from trial and error for example finding the correct fuse size for a particular wire, amp mounting or sub box building but what about the rest, remote turn on leads, enable/disable switches and relay connections. Does anyone actually look at and understand the wiring diagrams before installing new electronics in their car?

Correct fuse size for a particular wire should NOT come from trial and error!

As for the answer to your question, although it should be "yes", all too often it's "no".

The only time I look at diagrams is when I'm dealing with funky relays.

IE any subaru ground switched anything.

This goes for my headlight relays, foglight switch and my hella supertones relay.

It's just a PITA to keep that all straight in your head. I draw it all out.

As for standard stereo wiring...that's just simple + and - stuff.
