Default Newbie Question, Kinda

Hello people,
I just joined the club. I bought my Impreza January this year. Just recently one of my friends (this guy is a used car dealer) was in the car and he noticed a smell (rotten eggs).
I read all the posting about this smell on this website, but they all seem to be coming from people in the US. Has anyone in Canada been smelling what I'm smelling.

The rotten eggs smell is typical of 2 things.
First, Subaru coats the engine with cosmoline to keep it from corroding during shipment. As you drive the car, this heats up and burns off, making the smell. It should be strong at first, then go away gradually. This is the case with both of my Subies. I bought my WRX in May, so the cosmoline smell is gone, but if I drive aggressively for awhile and heat the engine up good, the smell comes back slightly.
Secondly, some people have reported that certain brands of gasoline or a particular station causes the smell. IIRC this is due to the differing amounts of sulfur in the gasoline itself. Gas with higher sulfur content (due to brand, or settling in the storage tank) makes this smell.
Hope that helps.

It could also be the catalytic converters, my friends car (not a subaru) makes a nice smell from his catalytic converters. So here's my non-expert opinion, it's either:
the engine coating stuff,
sulfur in the gas
sulfur from the exaust and reacting to the catalytic converter
or someone dumped some eggs in your vent and they're now rotting.

If it's a new car, I'd vote for the engine coating stuff.

Default Rotten Egg smell

I've read in the many threads that have been posted that it could be:
1. Cat conv.
2. Sulphur in Gas
3. New car coating.

My car has 22,000 KMs on it. I had numerous engine light problems and one time they actually had to replace my cat. conv. So I don't think that this is my catalytic con. I doubt that it's the new car coating, my car isn't new, I've piled up the Kms on it. The only thing is the sulphur in the gas. Here in Canada they say the sulphur in the gas could range from 710 ppm to 210 ppm. I just don't understand how I could smell this shi@ inside the car when I am driving and pushing the car???

Is anyone in Canada is having this same problem, rotten smell inside the cabin while driving hard????

The problem is that I don't know if this stuff that I am smelling inside the cabin is toxic or not. For all I know this stuff could be very harmful in the long run.

Someone help me please, I'm going nuts
