Default question about pcv valve-Instead of replacing just soak in cleaner?

I was wondering if it would be possible to just clean the pcv valve in brake cleaner or something instead of replacing it?

The whole point of replacing it is because it may get clogged.......?

Never heard of that but why bother? A new one is only a few bucks.

It can be done I suppose, we used to all the time on older cars.
Some issues I have:
Corrosion of metals and deterioration of plastics, why not just replace?
Knocking bits loose but not out, so they enter your engine later.
Once you go through the trouble of removal, why just clean such a cheap part?

They are only $9, why not just replace it?

^^haha I am cheap? I have replaced it before but I remember last time as I was checking out the old one I thought about this(what I posted) because it seems the only moving part in it is a ball to allow the air to move only in one direction.

my 60k is coming up and I don't really want to order a pcv valve just by itself+shipping.

Order a PCV Valve? You don't have an auto-parts store nearby? I just picked one up at an Autozone. I think it was $2.95. There's no reason to spend extra money to get one direct from Subaru.

^^you are right. I have thought about that before but never looked up to see which part fits. I'll check them out next time I got to autozone/pepboys...
